Kartikeya are a russian band playing a similar blend of progressive metal than Myrath or Orphaned Land. Not bad.

Fun Groove/Thrash metal album.

I got it for free. Kinda like Arch Enemy or early Soilwork - somewhat faceless Melodic Death Metal that's satisfying in a McDonald's kind of way.

At least not much clean singing that plagued this band in later days.

I never understood the appeal of Grave, they've always been a slightly heavier version of Dismember. The album is what you would expect from them really.. Decent..

Hence the appeal. I like Soulless the most for its odd catchiness.

@Stefan: Stop being a nazi about a damn thread.

Ethereal, Haunting, Soothing, Romantic, Dark, HEAVY. Masters of Funeral Doom Metal and of the pioneers of the genre along with Thergothon. Highly recommended for fans of the genre and anyone interested in down-tempo and very heavy music. They don't have a bass guitar because the guitars are so heavy and they also use an organ in their sound which makes them very unique. It's truly outstanding music. I would recommend starting with their first, last, and the rest of their discography which isn't long after all.

Very much a mid-1980's Thrash album. Violent and riffy as all hell.

Their last good Melodic DM album before the Metalcore/Nu-metal rot consumed them.

I wasn't a big fan of Desert Call, this is the first spin I give their new one.

Was listening to:

Very good compilation, captures some of Leviathans best songs (S.W.O.L, Liar of Nazareth) and has a great Death In June cover.

Am listening to:

Supreme black metal. Although short, captures the attention for every second of it's playtime.

Going to listen to after:

Probably Kriegs worst effort, prefer Destruction Ritual, Sono Lo Scherno, The Black Plague, Blue Miasma and The Isolationist. Still rate it a solid 7 though.

BTW DevNuts you are a bit of a dick. Just saying.

Master of the anvil alloys the metals with an essence of magic"

So good.

I recently voiced that Ki was my favorite DTP album. I have to admit I hadn't listen to it in quite a long time.
Giving it a spin today is a good reminder of his amazing (contained) fury and melodic grandeur.

Only my first listen and so far I've got mixed feelings. It's quite good but quite good is Opeth's mediocre. On the other hand it's far from the piece of shit some people have claimed it to be.

Edit: My dad is soooooooo going to love this.

A great melodic hardcore EP with somewhat of a storyline about a young boy going to war in WW 2. The EP is by the band Defeater and its very upbeat with standout tracks being Wound and a Scar and Red white and blues.
