Pretty uninspired. Their basic sound is fine, but the elitist part of me does want to describe them as Arch Enemy for people who watch Vikings. But then the rest of me is very excited to hear the new Rammstein album tomorrow, so

The elitist part of me laughed at your synthesis of insipid later Arch Enemy and later Amon Amarth, since I gave up on both bands after their fourth albums. But then the other part of me is listening to space rock, girl grunge, and pop metal, so

Also, was that Anubis Gate better than Horizons?

Yes, not up to their best work however. Shame I never got around to reviewing it, but you can't do them all.

As for new Rammstein, it's pretty solid after one listen, if not quite up to the Mutter/Reise/Liebe heights.

Mutter is the high water mark for the 'steiners. There are some solid bangers on their other albums, but none of them can match the consistent greatness of that record. New album means new tour which is reason enough to be excited as far as I'm concerned.

Pale - Pale EP. Highly recommended post-black metal from Japan. Real good stuff. :dio:

Anyone ever heard this Jucifer album about Stalingrad? Sort of like Boris, but serious and actually good

I'll give those JD/SBM albums a listen Husk. And I haven't heard anything from Jucifer since Throned in Blood, I'll have to throw that on the ol'playlist. Poor Boris!

Of course L'Acephale has to be from fucking Portland?

Of course I just recommended a record by a band from Athens, Georgia screaming in Russian about the Great Patriotic War.

Had no idea Paul Scanlan was in Skaldic Curse, have to add this to the playlist as well.

You should dig it; sort of Akercocke meets Mayhem.
