Inherently a perfectly acceptable metal release, but it is missing that immanent and urgent ominousness, that grippingly and haunting darkness, and that dead-tight and rock-heavy devastating heaviness, which My Dying Bride is so well known to have mastered. Why? I am not entirely sure.

A much more careful listening with a fresh mind after lunch. And it does make a big difference. Hope all's well.

Edit: But where has gone that overpowering sense of tragedy and loss, the great sense of the emotionality of grief, pain, sorrow? I do not recognize it, but only in a few sparing moments.
