After 1001 pages and 20001 posts in the previous thread, the time has come to begin anew. Share what you're listening to, perhaps with a few words or thoughts on the album, suggestions of best songs or whatever.

To get the ball rolling, currently listening to the new Anthrax:

It is really good, definitely their best since Time. Some proper anthems on there, Belladonna sounds great, riffs and stomping rhythms everywhere. Almost has an Iced Earth/US power metal vibe to me at certain points. Deserves your ears. :dio:

Malice_-_In the Beginning-1985

Image

This is one of the best albums of classic Heavy Metal I've heard. And the album name it's pretty apt for this new beginning in the thread.

James Neal, the vocalist, it's a beast. Malice had a very short career, sadly. If someone knows another band with James Neal handling the vocals, please let me know.

Enjoy.

You all know it. A timeless classic, that still needs to be reviewed here. Not a single weak track. Amazing.

edit: for the sake of it, here's a link...

Great Viking/Pagan black metal in the vein of latter Graveland, Bathory, Kampfar, and other acts of the sort.

Those of you who enjoy the atmospheric interludes of Nile albums and Karl Sanders' solo releases should immediately check Dead Can Dance out if you haven't heard them before. Lisa Gerrard has the voice of an exotic angel - few other artists can so instantly transport me as these guys. Fantastic stuff.

I just bought Aion the other day and it should be in the mail in a bit. I love them their music is so ethereal, and perfect for droning out while I am at work. Great stuff, they should get a review here.

Cold, unfeeling, and atonal brutal death/grind from the folks at Fleshgrind. Not the burpy novelty music from hacks like Disgorge (Mex), but riffs that will seer your face off http://www.youtube.comwatch?v=EjMdZRT8FaY

This album got waaaaaaaaay underrated on this site, imo.

EDIT: This actually does a better job at being "Deathcore" than most bands that are tagged with that genre. It's Metalcore that actually has a very very strong Death Metal presence. Great stuff.

Haven't you read that we would now try to add a comment, a link, to each album we post in the NP thread?

Another fine retro-thrash act, these lads head from teh USA. Essence is better but they do a good job at reviving the chops of old.

Well, to be fair, what else can you really say about The August Engine? It's amazing, end of story.

I did read that, and guess what. I don't really care. Lord Zad can suck it.

it's fucking God Dethroned. What about them?

go to metal-archives if you want to know more about them.

I'll give you a brief breakdown of their music, they play death metal.

It wasn't Zad's idea, actually.
