Post subject:  The Century Media years (the glory days) ?

When one considers the sheer amount of classics on the old Century Media roster, one can easily see the amount of albums that would be genre defining and or classics in their own right. Everything from De mysteriis dom Sathanas to Wildhoney, and to the bands carried currently is no reflection of the quality of the old label. When do you think things changed for the label, and they lost sight of promoting great bands in exchange for being more marketable? Obviously, promoting bands that will sell is the nature of the beast for metal labels, but do you think that in any way has compromised the label's integrity to where it is derided today?

Mid-1990s to early 2000s:

1. Iced Earth at their peak
2. Nevermore
3. Dark Tranquillity
4. Tad Morose
5. Strapping Young Lad
6. Shadows Fall
7. Carnal Forge

They also shared with Nuclear Blast during this period - so great stuff from Dimmu Borgir, In Flames etc.

Things changed in the mid-2000s. Many of their mainstays no longer produced quality music or had moved on to other labels and many of the new sign ups were pretty terrible.

Same happened to Nuclear Blast.
