Perhaps some further explanations are necessary as to evoke what I am asking for. I am curious to know some metal albums that are centered around variations of one sole riff, not repeating two or three riffs ad infinitum such as Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger, but songs that are centered around one riff. I'm not particularly interested in stuff such as drone, but mainly extreme genres and maybe even power metal if possible.

Catch 33 is the only one I'm aware of.

For the period after "Destroy, Erase, Improve" I agree.

Husker and Dead1 are completely wrong...anyway, Meshuggah is always going to be one of those bands that some people despise.

As for single riff albums, not much comes to mind, however, Edge of Sanity's Crimson often repeated main riff was fantastic.

Secht - Secht is a single-song album that's mostly centred around a single theme.

Pretty good too.
