What do you think of this list? This not my personal top 100 list. If I completely disregard what I think about a band and go with mainstream appeal and the merits of them achieving what they sought, I Agree with: Led Zeppelin Black Sabbath Jimi Hendrix AC/DC Metallica Van Halen The Who KISS Aerosmith Queen Pink Floyd Cream Ramones Ozzy Osbourne Alice Cooper Pearl Jam Deep Purple Judas Priest Iron Maiden Cheap Trick Motörhead Rush Mötley Crüe Def Leppard Alice in Chains Frank Zappa Yardbirds Stone Temple Pilots Pantera Scorpions The Smashing Pumpkins Slayer Thin Lizzy Korn Blue Öyster Cult White Zombie Heart Anthrax Bad Company New York Dolls Jethro Tull Boston The Rolling Stones Megadeth Lynyrd Skynyrd Twisted Sister Ratt Queensrÿche UFO Whitesnake Foreigner Tool Rainbow The Misfits The Black Crowes Yes Primus Quiet Riot What bands do you think meet that criteria? Dio is missing and they actually play his stuff on the radio all the time. Though I generally don't care for them Creed were basically on top for about 5 years there, much longer than some of these they listed. |

Another list where some committee of people in suits think that their collective opinion actually matters. These "100 greatest _______ of all time" lists are beyond pointless, and are always stupidly predictable. So Led Zeppelin's #1, huh? I never would've guessed. |

Yes, every single person on the board knows that, but within the confines of popular mainstream hard rock and heavy metal, I thought It would be fun to actual belittle and make their list look stupid on their own terms. I removed the contrived Pop bands from the list I posted or the one hit wonders that no one knows who the hell they are. Nirvana and Soundgarden don't cut it in my book. They were never part of heavy metal or hard rock culture whatsoever. The aforementioned much despised Creed actually comes closer to metal's roots than Soundgarden does. |

In my opinion VH-1 considers all metal to be a subgenre of Hard Rock because they think like a radio station, not like fans do. Just like I consider all Punk to be Pop music, because I am not a fan and it fits within the confines of my ends and needs. |

There are tons of good bands on that list actually. Whether they qualify as hard rock obviously is a different matter. |

Bonnet is just as good, but in a more "Eddie Money" sort of way. And people that don't like Alcatrazz's Dangerous games are fucking clueless. If you listen to any Graham Bonnet project for shredding guitar, you've already lost. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=da9rP6mdpSc |

I'm fine with them handling hard rock. When they try and cover what they think is " metal " it's just downright embarrassing. |

I'ts not a bad list for a hard rock one. There's actually more metal in there than I would've expected. Though there's no Guns N Roses who are probably one of the better hard rock bands (well they're my favourite one). Why remove Nirvana and Soundgarden - they were good hard rock bands too. A lot of Metallers actually lump Soundgarden into metal due to the fact that they at times sounded closer to Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath than a lot of other bands. Now if this was a Metal list it would suck. |
