I have never heard a metal album with a harp in it, does anyone know of any bands regardless of genre that uses the instrument? Is it used regularly or just in certain songs, all recommendations are appreciated, thanks guys. |

Folk Stone use it from song to song, along with bagpipes and bombarde. They play the Subway to Sally / In Extremo kind of folk metal, don't know if that's your thing, but there you go; harps. http://www.myspace.com/folkstone |

Checked my liner notes to Folkearths "Father Victory" there are some harps in the credits. Band has nice instrumentation but some terrible vocalists. I can hear some at 3:50 in Heroes in the Sky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnZpgg_IaXM The Forlorn Knight has harp in the accoustic passages. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bptYvRSPdQ0 IMO Harps don't stand out that well in a mixture of louder instruments. |

Folkearth past Drakkars in the Mist are just dreadful...admittedly, I've not heard the last two. |

If you are just looking for harp, Loreena McKennit (one of my favorites) has some nice songs with harp as that was her first instrument. I probably never will .. unfortunate as they had an interesting mix of influences. |

Yeah I wish they'd just spend a bit of time writing songs and recording properly instead of just churning out albums that sound like they were written while they were being recorded inside a shoebox. |

FolkStone aren't that bad in my opinion, it's just the riffing seems kind of watered down. In some places such as in "Terra Santa" it kind of suffers from that Lacuna Coil chugging stuff, though the vocalist is one of my favorite aspects of the music. |
