Besides all of the "Cold Lakes" and "The Unspoken kings" out there, what are some albums out that which a band had intended to push themselves yet ended up screwing up. The kind of album were you can see the band was trying something new, and the foundation just fell out from under their feet. Years after listening to these albums do you look back and say "hmm, maybe this isn't so bad", or just avoid the album altogether.

Stratovarius-Stratovarius
Edguy-Rocket Ride
Scorpions-Eye II Eye
Helloween-Chameleon(although I do like some songs on this one)

Most definitely, completely ruins the music, They could have easily done better.

I highly doubt that one was experimental. I think Sammett knew EXACTLY what he was doing.

Metallica's St. Anger and Megadeth's Risk although, ironically, I like Crush 'em.

Jethro Tull - Under Wraps
The synth-oriented & drum machines direction they went with on that one makes it a miss and probably the worst of the whole JT's discography. It's a shame, some of the songs could have been nice with the real Tull sound.

More than a fault in the band, it's a record company fault. And going hair metal is not really try to be "Experimental"

Oh noes! But you're not wrong, it was pretty rejected by the band's fans at the time, but it is a masterpiece in retrospect.

Masterpiece is pushing it a bit. It has some charm.

Disagree at the first, largely with you on the second.

Have you tried listening to 34.788% lately, Rio?

I think I did about a year ago, and while I do like "The Whore the Cook and the Mother" and the second track/last tracks are fine too, the rest of the album enrages me.

I haven't actually... I think the CD lies discarded somewhere in a pile. I'll tell you what I remember painfully vividly:

Quote:
Falling flat, falling on my face
Up yours you fucking basket case
Come on, come on, take a shot
Kick me, kicking you, kick the lot

Talk to you with a frightening blade
Hear me stalk through the 6th fucking grade
Bar wax clogging up your head
Maybe you're dumb, maybe you wanna be dead

Take a ride through a city tonight
Or we can stay here smoking shite

Fear grabs like a falling man
Unforgiving is its choking hand
Come on, come on if you've got the guts
Kill me now cuz I don't give a fuck
in, out, baby I don't mind. Nice cunt. Nice behind
Groping around like a stupid kid

Bastards fucking everywhere
It's all I see, I can't help but stare
Talking crap and looking like a twat
See the blade. Feel the blade in your back

This night. This night is hot
Hope it rains. Hope it rains a lot
Everywhere suckers stop and stare

Fucking city's just a fucking mess
Up to its neck in fucking piss
