Not necessarily depressing, just sad.
For me it would be the first track off Bergtatt. Garm's vocal performance is just so melancholic.

Rainbow Eyes by Rainbow and The End by Dream Evil are the only two that can consistently bring me to the point of tears.

I find Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever" really sad. If you've watched Highlander you would understand the meaning of the song.

It could just be the context i have been listening to it in, but Precious by Depeche Mode gets my vote.

Lost by Beseech. I think I played that song over like 6 times when I first heard it.

The guy who wrote that is my (music) business teachers mate. apparently he knows fuck all bout music theory, doesn't even know where middle C on a key board is. Kind of makes the music even more impressive when you know that.

I don't know about the sadest ever, but Close To You from Demolition is quite the sad one. One of Priest's most criminally underated songs ever, for sure. Ripper really shines on this song, his vocals are amazing.

Other sad songs that come to mind would be Anathema's Suicide Veil and One Last Goodbye, Katatonia's Burn the Remembrance and, last but not least, Queensryche's Della Brown.

How come nobody has mentioned any doom songs? doom is all about sorrow, sadness and grief. So i'll have to say that Draconian's Death, Come Near Me gives me a big lump in the throat everytime...it's just such a sad emotional song

Warning - Watch From A Distance is one big album of sad

I think it's about a girlfriend or wife who died.
