As far as quantity and quality of albums goes, I'd have to say Coheed & Cambria. They released my favorite album of all time (Good Apollo I) and one of the best live dvd's I've ever seen (Neverender), so yeah, they definitely deserve it.

Helloween is runner up. Dark Ride, Rabbits, Keepers Legacy, Gambling.... all some of the best albums of Helloween's career. Hopefully that dreadful 25th anniversary album isn't a sign of horrible things to come from them this next decade.

I don't think so. The 25th Anniversary record was clearly just a between album stop-gap for the fans. Kind of like Ozzy's infamous "Under Cover" a few years ago.

I had a feeling it was something like that, and I'm glad someone else shares that opinion. If and most likely when Helloween decides to make another metal album, I have a feeling it'll be incredible. When the band realizes they've put out something bad, they tend to double their efforts on the next album. Rabbit Don't Come Easy (one of my favorite post-Kiske albums) was a result of Deris being disappointed with the result of The Dark Ride, and Master of the Rings was a HUGE comeback after Chameleon, so hopefully whatever they put out next will restore my faith in them.

In no real order except Nevermore who have truly done really well:

1. Nevermore
2. Dark Tranquillity
3. Arsis
4. Lamb Of God
5. Iron Maiden (3 great new albums since 2000).
6. Megadeth - started off wonky but have been getting better and better.
7. Kataklysm
8. Ghoul - side project from some of the guys from Impaled. Basically it's Thrash Metal with Carcass style vocals.

Course this is personal choice and a proper list would have Nile, Behemoth and others but not my cup of tea.

Your number one is aces, I had Nevermore at 11 actually--I had to take a few points off because I didn't think 'Enemies of Reality' came close to their other two excellent efforts. I'll have to check out your #8, because Carcass-Thrash sounds interesting.

You can't go wrong with Ghoul old-timer, Splatterthrash is one hell of an album.
