Post subject: | Local Radio Station |
There's a local station here in Indy that plays alternative, hard rock, and VERY occasionally, metal. Sometimes when I'm driving, I'll flip it on if there is a new song I want to hear that I think they might play (ex. the new Alice in Chains songs). The funny thing to me is that they continue to play the same shit year after year. I don't claim to know all of what's popular in the alternative rock world, but I turned on the station yesterday hoping to hear that AiC song, and this is what I got instead: Puddle of Mudd Breaking Benjamin Three Days Grace Shinedown Crossfade Not sure if any of those bands have new stuff out (don't care really), but these were the exact same songs they were playing 4-5 years ago when I first listened to this station. This can't be normal. Do any of you have local stations that partake in this ridiculousness? |

The only radio worth a damn these days is the so-called "classic rock" stations. I think there is a general format radio staions follow, because it's the same drag here, too. I heard not long ago some band do a cover of War Pigs, and they really really should be given a good old fashioned boot party for the way they butchered it. Anybody know the name of the band that did this? |

Anybody know the name of the band that did this? Heh heh, haven't heard that, thankfully. We should also invite Shinedown to that same party for that dreadful cover of Simple Man they did. Agreed about classic rock stations. That's the only station in my city that's consistently worth listening to. Regular radio just sucks now, for the most part, in the US. EDIT: In checking Wiki's page on War Pigs, I'm guessing Nonpoint is the band you heard V, they of the shitty In the Air Tonight cover played during the movie remake of Miami Vice a couple years ago. |

And by the way, that Pyro-show, even though they play a lot of cool shit, the show is dominated by shit like Lamb of God, Slipknot and fucking Trivium. On a good da however: Opeth Iron Maiden Satyricon Maybe some Dimmu Older Metallica Diamond Head Lots of new wave thrash bands that's among the stuff I've heard there. But I don't really listen to radio anyway. |

Here in shithole West Texas we have 99.9 KBAT, the home of REAL ROCK! It plays nothing but Shinedown, Nickelsuck, Theory of a Deadnickelback, Seether, shitty Nirvana songs from 15 years ago, shity RHCP songs from 20 years ago, Been Caught Stealin from over 20 years ago, Chickenfoot(dumb name for a crappy supergroup), and for some odd reason, every shitty Sammy Hagar song to ever get radio play. The only highlights are the occasional Pink Floyd or Roth era Van Halen song. The biggest crime is it's a Rock station in Texas, who won't play fucking Pantera or Stevie Ray Vaughan. That's just blasphemous. Did I mention Sammy Hagar fucking sucks? Because he does, a lot. |

Heh heh. For a while, I thought that I was living in some shitty radio paradox. What the hell are these places thinking? Is Puddle of Mudd circa 2002 still popular or something? |

Yeah, that's them. I'm at a loss for words, really. Wow, I could only make it halfway through the first verse. Blech. At least they're consistent, two for two on butchered covers. |

I dunno, we have a few solid classic rock stations here, I think there's only one that plays newer stuff with the classics, too. |
