I was watching tv today and since cable is raising their rates on campus we have a plethora of channels we normally don't have. That metal show was on Vh1 classic and they were interviewing Ace Frehley about KISS and cover bands. Whats your opinion about the show, they always seem to talk about the classic bands; do you watch the show? |

I didn't even know they had a metal show. I remember years ago VH1 wouldn't touch metal my how things change MTV used to be a metal haven and VH1 would only play modern rock now the roll is reversed. |

It's a fun show to watch. It's hosted by long time metal radio DJ Eddie Trunk and his two partners in crime, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine. He's had a ton of guys on like Yngwie, Geoff Tate, Ronnie James Dio, Geezer Butler, Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy), Vinnie Paul, and others. It's a cool half hour of metal nonsense on VH1. It's great when they play 'Stump the Trunk'. They give audience members the opportunity to ask questions to Eddie and if he can't answer correctly the audience member wins a prize. The prize girl is quite hot btw. It's worth tuning in just to see her ![]() |

I'll pass. What I find peculiar about that statement is that when I was younger (and not an aging metal fossil now at the age of 40) I never considered any news coverage or radio shows about The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Ted Nugent etc.. as 'dad rock'. I was always interested in finding out about older bands and their perspective. |

Bands like Led Zep and AC/DC continue to find favor with new generations. It's simply timeless music that appeals to youth because it's energetic, fun, and is perfect for house parties (AC/DC especially). And for the scoffers out there, simply look around and see what rock t-shirts the kids are wearing. |

Eddie Trunk is a tool, but Jim Florentine is a funny guy. |

I'm sorry, but a couple guys interviewing the drummer from AC/DC just doesn't excite me very much. |

It's more than an interview show. They went to a Van Halen concert and went to the people in line saying that they had a direct feed to Van Halens dressing room and they could ask them questions, which was obviously a lie. So some chick asked why did David Lee Roth re-joined Van Halen after all these years away. Jim Florentine then started to say that David Lee Roth got offended by this question and was freaking out in the dressing room, saying he wont perform tonight for these ungrateful fans. The chick got all upset and started crying said how sorry she was. It was funny shit. . . . you had to be there . . . Van Halen rules |
