Not a poser, more like a douchebag. And really why didn't you just keep this to yourself?

I felt a need to confess. And I will attempt to defend myself to some extent.
First of all, the sound. Fuck, the production is awesome. All The Right Reasons was produced by the guy who did the Black Album, and the new one sounds fucking heavy too.
Second of all, I don't know what gets radio exposure in the States, but I've never heard anything of them here, so I'm not sick to death of the ballads that probably get played over and over on endless rotation in the US.
Third, the lyrics are hilarious. Songs like "Something In Your Mouth", "Next Contestant" and "S.E.X." just have me doubled up.
Fourth, they can actually fucking play, and they definitely know how to arrange and write songs better than a shitload of other bands.

Owned.

Except that doesn't even mention all the bands that sound like or mimic NB.

Seriously though, liking Nickelback is no different than liking Dragonforce (in the sense of that webshite site)

I'm sure Nickelback has some merit if you go to it expecting total shit. But compared to people with true talent, then no way. All there is a maybe a catchy tune here or there. But, IMO, to be that sincere in liking them is kind of strange. Check out other mainstream bands (if you haven't really been hearing them as you say), and eventually you'll get why they suck (its because they all sound the same and use the same formula for everything). For example, take "Canon". It's a great classical piece, but it's so overused now that whenever I hear those chord progressions I feel like throwing up.

If you like listening to the music though, then whatever.

(PS: A lot of metal uses the same formulas/cliche writing often too, so don't feel too bad)

Around the mid-nineties when they came out they weren't that bad, they actually were bringing a fresh perspective to all that bullshit alternative at the time and they were a decent alt-rock band, but after that they really really sold out because they were getting airplay in SOME mrkets, and they wanted more. I call this Def Leppard syndrome. Coming from somewhat honest roots but selling out as quickly as possible but not changing too drastically so they can claim they never sold out.

Nickelback sucks. My 45 year old uncl;e listens to them so i've heard their actual albums. Their first few singles were acceptable at the time, but everything else is just awful.
