Shit, it was awesome.

Diru are one of the J-Rock bands that I could never understand why they got so much praise. There are far, far better Japanese bands out there, but them and MUCC always seems to be the popular ones :S.

Dir en grey are one of my favorite bands. They have a pretty eclectic style, and Kyo is probably the best vocalist I've ever heard. People always tell me there are better Japanese bands, but I have yet to hear them, to be honest. :\

And they put on one fuck of a live show. They were absolutely incredible.

Fair play man, if you like them I can't change your mind. They just never really clicked with me outside of one or two songs.

yeah, i've never seen musicians that good playing 3 feet away from me. and i got to learn how they do that creepy guitar solo at the end of "Beatus". only me and two other people really got into them though; everyone went apeshit when Dismember played which was pretty awesome, but imo Augury were way better.

just got home from thw show. Gotta say that Evile shattered Satyricon in 666 tiny black pieces. Damn solid show. Satyricon was very disappointing. The sound sucked, the tracklist was fucking lame except for mother north and forhekset. I don't like their new style, and the ND songs they played sounded like shit. So did the stuff from the new album.

It's probably due to the incredibly bad sound and all, but I was really let down. In addition to that, except Frost, they all looked like pussies. I mean, fucking Gucci-shirts? What the hell? Satyr looks like a millionaire kid with his short, fixed hair, and fancy clothes. Performance-wise they were really tight though. Such a shame that the sound and track-list kind of ruined it.

I was allowed to come in front of the barrier to take pictures during Evile and Blood Tsunami, which was really cool. Will post some later. During Satyricon, however, we were only allowed to take photos during the first song. Lame!

I just went to my first concert ever. 3 Inches of Blood. The first opening band sucked, the second opening band was an awesome stonery prog/power/doom metal band, and then 3 Inches of Blood tore it the fuck up. I couldn't hear half the music cuz of my positioning, but it was one of the greatest things ever. I screamed my goddamn voice away and my ears are still ringing 12 hours later.

Totally wanna go see them again. The bar was dirty as fuck, and I think that made it even better.

3 Inches put on a very good show, and the pit was hilarious. Sugar is so tiny, so people were being moshed out the side door and shit.

So I also decided to not bother with Damnation Fest (so no Carcass, Cathedral, MDB, Napalm Death) in order to make a pilgrimage to see Opeth in Nottingham, supported by CYNIC...

I thought this was fair. (Apart from the fact that friends of mine are going to Opeth, and I'd be all alone at Damnation) I've seen ND before, I've seen MDB twice before, it is just Carcass and Cathedral I'll be sorry to miss. Admittedly this will be the 5th time I've seen Opeth, but I am going to see Cynic as well, which should be quite something. Anyway, you can never see Opeth too many times.

Cynic + Opeth sounds like a deal you can't pass up.

You are right about that. I feel pretty comfortable with my decision.

The new Opeth songs, Heir Apparent and Lotus Eater, are awesome live. Those were the only two they played when I saw them last month.

The last time I saw them was on the GR tour, and although I didn't like that album so much it was the best I'd ever heard them sound on stage. No doubt the Watershed stuff will sound even better as they are stronger songs, IMO.

Seems like your missing Evile, Rio. They pulled out of the tour. The guitarist fractured his jaw.
