so at the end of July i decided i wanted to try out an acoustic bass, mostly because i liked the idea of just being able to play it wherever without having to worry about an amp being nearby. the only store here that rents them just had a 250$ that sounded tinny/twangy and lame, and a 1500$ one that sounds awesome. so i rented the 1500$ one, thinking i could then find something in between the two at the another store or whatever. and in the last month i have played bass like 2-3x as often as in the past couple years. the only problem is that i haven't found a cheaper one. all the less than 1000$ ones at other stores have had a similar unappealing twangy sound as the cheap rental one.

can afford it but i do have other stuff i could spend the money on (a pretty nifty elecric bass and amp, stereo stuff, not being broke after i pay for school, etc)
