Post-punk indeed. Among the first of the kind. Terrific debut album, try it.

NoMeansNo - I Got a Gun
Canadian punk at his (almost) best. 8,5/10

Daylight Dies - A Life Less Lived

Save for the death-styled vocals, this is exactly how I'd want Paradise Lost to sound. Pretty good. 7/10

An oldie but goodie now:

Powermad - Slaughterhouse
Solid one. First I've heard of them to be honest. So 7-ish/10 I guess.

Virgin Steele - I am the One
The opening soft part is okay, the second is much better though I don't like the keyboards'sound.

Shok Paris - Go Down Fighting

melody at the start was nice, in fact the guitar was more or less good throughout, nothing special about the vocals though and the drumming was only average, I'd probably like it more if I was in the right mood but on first listen 6/10

Melechesh-Assyrian Spirit

Very solid if unspectacular riff festival of a lengthy black metal track. 7.5/10. I thought I had this album, turns out I only have Sphinx. Good band.

Katatonia - Shades Of Emerald Fields

8/10 good doom/death, may just have to add more Katatonia to my collection though I hear nothing but bad things about their recent material

and now for something from one of my favourite albums

I'm surprised you've heard nothing "but bad things" from recent Katatonia. A lot of people whose opinions I respect like Katatonia's newer albums, just personally not a fan since Viva Emptiness.

Necromantia - Devilskin

Like their permutation on the Greek sound, like the band as a whole, would appreciate slightly better production on this track, but oh well, great sound anyway. 8/10.

Behemoth - Spellcraft and Heathendom. 8/10. I love me some Nergal and so I totally dig this. I think they did better black metal than most black metal bands. The licks are just stellar.

if I were judging this on the bands name alone it would be a score so low mankind has yet to subscibe a numerical value to it, fortunately their music makes up for their absolutely terrible band name so it gets a 7/10

heard this song in a documentary and now desperately want the album

Sigh - Me-Devil. I really enjoyed this album when it came out, but now the zany horn sounds annoy me. And the vocals don't do it much for me when they verge on punk chants. Other moments on this album do more for me. 5/10

One of the better acoustic songs from a metal band I've heard. Some of the guitarwork was a little reminiscent of Opeth's Morningrise, which always brings back the nostalgia; also, no part of this song overstays its welcome, which reminded me in a completely different way of Ulver's acoustic album. 8.5/10

Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss

I actually like this, not really a fan of Burzum but this track is pretty good 8/10

That Infinitum's not bad, although I think a non-youtube version would do it more justice, doesn't sound like the highest quality it could?

Sotajumala - Paratiisin kutsu. I have been digging all things Finnish as of late. Fucking crazy solid riffing. The vocals are little monotone for me and the hints of chanting in the background didn't do much for me. And the video is as if they are playing in the middle of a pit in the middle of an MMA cage. I approve. 7/10
