Madness! Although I have a bit of a soft spot for Alkaline Trio, I must admit.

And Kathy, all I know about Pyramids is that they apparently sound vaguely similar to Alcest.

Well, turns out they're nothing like Alcest. They're like nothing else I've ever heard, and I have no idea what to make of them. Expect a review none the less.

Yea, awesome news indeed.

As far as progressive death metal goes, Augury should be releasing a new one too!

New Soulfly = :dio: Definately the best thing they've ever done. Beats Cavalera Conspiracy, even.

Better than Dark Ages? That's hard to imagine after only hearing 'Unleash' but I guess I'll have to try it out.

Better than Dark Ages. More complex, heavier, better riffs. So far there's only one song with any trace of Nu-Metal on it, which this being Soulfly is LIEK WHOA DUDE.

Season Of Mist's email newsletter thing has just told me:

Quote:
As the almighty progressive death metallers from CYNIC are just out of the studio, we can now announce the title of their long-awaited, sophomore album. This 35 minute, 8 song baby is entitled "Traced in Air" and will be released on next October 27th.

Bit short, no? From the album title and songs I've heard, they've somehow got even drippier since Focus. Still hoping they can pull something good out.

Yes. Can't see it being anything other than Focus pt II.

In other news, the new Darkthrone'll be out in October. It's called something like Dark Thrones And Black Flags. Valefor'll be pissed.

I managed it once in the old Blastwave days, got The Provenance's album - proper thing, not a promo! - but have received nothing since. Good luck...

It'd be easier if I wasn't expecting the new Darkthrone to be massively inconsistent and probably around the 60-70 mark. I feel obliged to write positive reviews of promos, even though I haven't yet.

I still haven't listened to FOAD properly yet, but the couple of songs that I have - Canadian Metal, Church Of Real Metal - are pretty awesome. More of the same would be foine.

To be fair to them, FOAD was a lot more consistent than The Cult Is Alive. Maybe they'll continue in this trend.

1. Third Immortal
2. Exile the Daystar
3. The Great Gathering
4. Guardians
5. Voice of the Fallen
6. Daughter of the Sun
7. Green Dragon
8. Awakening
9. Epic Dreams
10. Moontower
11. The Star of High Hope

There's a medley of all songs on their myspace for those interested and I must say it sounds promising. At least it's not another Evernight which was incredibly dull.

I'd prefer them going back to their tr00 black metal roots...
Or even better, to SOulside Journey times, damn sometimes i think that they were just better at making death metal...

Thanks for the heads up, Pyro. Didn't know there was a new Battlelore album on the way out.
