Yes, Pantera fans..Dimebag is gone..please get over it and get used to it. I’m sick of this guy being revered as some saint or god. I don’t know if anyone else feels the way I do but this guy was not a god!!! He was not a guitar genius. Was he a talented guitar player?..Yes he was. Was he an innovator? HELL NO!! If I’m to burned for that opinion…so be it. I understand people mourning Randy Rhoads, Jimmy Hendrix, etc. I will never ever place Dimebag in the company of those players.

Randy Rhoads was a killer player, no doubt about it, but a bit overrated. Dying young makes you a better player, it seems. Same applies to Dimebag.

I don't proclaim Dimebag to be a god, no way, but he did die in a really shitty way. He was a truly nice guy who didn't deserve to come to such a bad end. It just seems like the people who love life the most, get to live it the least.

My comments were in no way directed toward any particular person. I hope you didn't take it that my words were NOT meant for you. I was definitely speaking in generalities.

Thats a shitty way for some one to die, even if he was a douche bag. I would say he lived alot. I don't know how old he was but he as at least thirty, which isn't old. He got to live through alot more of lifes experiences than some teenager who gets shot in conditions that make just as litle sense.

Proclaiming Dimebag as a God, IMO, is way overrated. But he deserves some respect for the music he made. I did like Pantera a lot as a teenager, being one of the first few bands I listened to. Dimebag's death came as a huge blow to me. Seriously, he didn't deserve to die that way. R.I.P Dimebag.

I think the most retarded fans would be DevilDriver's fans. It was on a separate thread on MR about them bidding for the Guiness records 'worlds biggest circle pit'. That was sickly lame. The fans just kept running in circles doin nothing. They must have thought it was some musical chair game or something.

I'd have to disagree there. Yeah, sure, it was kind of 'lame', but I don't think the fans thought it was something dead serious anyway. Most would have just done it to have some fun being stupid. If you say people who like to be stupid and have fun sometimes retarded then we are all retarded.
I partly think you are just attacking them because its a band you think are shit.

I don't really think any fanbases are 'retarded' as such. Some are completely ridiculous, like the ICP fanboys for example, but I wouldn't call any 'retarded'.

Depends on how you define retarded, lol! You're kinda right. I don't really like DevilDriver. And that's maybe the reason I think it's lame. But it's funny, though.

Funny story: my friend got kicked out of his drama group for beating the crap out of some guy who dissed Dimebag.

Gooood times... I don't tend to hang out with him anymore, he can be a bit of an attention-seeking prat.

Back on topic, meathead thrashers who still think it's 1987 bug the shit out of me.

Over here they've lost a good chunk of their fanbase and got rather lacklustre reviews for The Crusade. It's this time last year they were being hailed as the next Metallica and such. How the mighty have fallen eh?. They're playing with Machine Head and Dragonforce over here, might go, because a gig's a gig right?

Machine Head's newest album isn't bad and I saw them live for the Heaven & Hell tour, at which, they were surprisingly good.

Trivium has a huge fanbase here. But most of them are the poser bunch who think they're the best band around. You could go to a mall and see half of the kids wearin Trivium tshirts or caps. Kinda annoys me a lot. And many gigs have half the bands covering Trivium songs, with 'Pulling....on your martyr' being the most popularly covered. Sorry if I didnt get the name right cos I dont listen much Trivium.

Seconded. That band breaks my gaydar (though the singer's previous band was pretty tight).

I guess now it's quite clear why Maiden often has some crap band to open for them. It gives the true fans something to wait for.

Yeah, Trivium lost a good part of their fanbase with The Crusade. That might be okay if the real metalheads stopped bashing them . I give them props for not being afraid to change their style.

It's a very tough phase a band has to go through when they change their style of playing. They might enjoy it, but would face a lot of whipping from their hardcore fans. Many bands went through that phase. It takes a lot of effort to survive it, and maintain the new style. I liked the Crusade, frankly. Let's hope they remain that style, and not return to their so called 'roots'.
