Shit, man, you should form your own band.
Could be a blessing in disguise, getting the boot.

Things happen for a reason, and the trick is turning a seemingly negative event into an oppurtunity.

Hell, Lemmy got kicked out of Hawkwind, and he's now a rock icon. Ozzy got kicked out of Sabbath, a nd did quite well (for a while...).

I'm putting together a country and folk group right now. Already found a violin, a tin whistle and a mandolin.

can I be on the hurdy-gurdy?

Can I beat the living shit out of you and then play an awesome heavy metal song to your slowly dying corpse? Country and fuck off I say.

Shit sucks dude. The other guy seems to be pulling the sweeps very nicely there. How good are you at sweep picking? It seems to be the only techique in guitar I'm completely incapable of doing.

I'd welcome any tips btw.

I've never sat down and actually tried learning sweep picking. I'm sure I could, but I just never saw the necessity. Sweep picking doesn't really mean anything to me, it's just like meaningless virtuosity. No soul.

Dude, country is badass as hell. Fucking David Allan Coe? Come on.

Use the internet sir!

That aside, it's not that expensive to put together a PC based recording setup. Even less so if you're a dirty pirate :P. All you'd need is a DAW, an audio interface and a one or two mics.

It is the fastest way to do a solo in my opinion. And it sounds awesome if done right.

See, I don't know what any of that is... except for the mics, I know what those are.

It'll sound cute, sure, but it won't mean anything, unless you're Yngwie or Petrucci and can twist it into something a lot more meaningful. For solos nothing beats the good old blues pentatonic, IMO.

I just wanted to say Country and fuck off, no problems with the actual music.

You should check out some David Allan Coe, though, he'd be right up your alley. Especially his 18 X Rated Hits compilation album. Here, I'll link a sample: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8tbjbmBmoU

A DAW is Digital Audio Workstation, like Cubase or Protools, and an audio interface is what you use to plug in mics or line level instruments. To record using a computer these are the only two things you need. If you're interested in doing your own stuff I can try advise you on those things, though I'll be the first to admit my knowledge isn't that great!

I've heard of stuff like Protools and Garageband before. And an audio interface is one of those boards with endless knobs, buttons, and sliders? That seems easy enough.

Anyone use Guitar Pro or Power Tab to tab out and remember their own stuff?

I've got a bunch of old scattered riffs and ideas in about a million Guitar Pro files that I never went anywhere with. I need to do something about that.

I just use GP to practice songs and shit. Maybe I should start using it to record ideas too...

Is it a good idea to buy a quality mic and plug it in the computer just like that? Would it be enough to record a decent sounding guitar track?

Instrument mics are expensive, but audio interfaces are even more expensive. I need a cheaper solution to this. I hate having to record my guitar riffs on my shitty mobile phone but I'm broke.

We tab everything out in GP and send it around, we never write stuff while rehearsing.

.:c:.
