There's a reason why this kind of band is lost to most metalhead's memories, they're not very good.

Agreed. I found nothing special about them.

Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf

The very first Stoner Doom song. 10/10  Love those riffs and the overall mood of the song, not to mention that it's about weed!!!

Keep up with the program people, track gets posted you review it don't miss it just because you don't like genre.

Helstar-Scorcher

9/10
An acoustic break gives way to Rivera's screechingly high vocals, the song takes the same technical power aspect that defined Destiny's End. Twisting and turning riffs give way to powerful operatic vocals at a fast tempo, the drumming is churning and sways along with the flood of riffs. Rivera's vocals literally are some of the best I've ever heard, he's been singing for nearly three decades and hasn't lost any of his range. An exceptional track from possibly metal's last great vocalist, Dickinson can suck a dick

Sick of it all-Step down
7.5/10

NYHC has many different flavors and Sick of it all represent a mixture of some of the more traditional punk elements with some of the street mentality from the beatdown bands. This song is more or less just a song showcasing the mosh moves from the east coast hard core scene, the riffs are more or less mid-paced with hints of groove to get the pit moving. A good song with lots of memorable chants to do pileups to with other kids.

ZnoWhite - Baptised by Fire

I used to like these guys back in the days, their thrash metal wasn't exactly breathtaking but competent enough to satisfy my then appetite. Looking back at it through that song, I feel it didn't age quite well, still a good example of the multitude that exploited the thrash sound when it was hype but that's about it.

Wrath - R.I.P. (Ripped Into Pieces)

I like the music, nice and uptempo with a bit of a bite but fuck that's got to be one of the worst vocalists I've ever heard. 4/10.

John Zorn-A second sanctuary

The whispered intro and pseudo intellectual lyrics don't help this song, not to mention the random screaming and china symbols are just overloud crap. The psychedelic instrumentals in the back sound cool but then its back to that lame noise/whispered bullshit, the riffs are boring punkish riffs and the vocals are insufferably shitty.

Impellitteri - Beware Of The Devil

reminds me of a slightly softer Rob Rock with slightly less interesting lyrics, decent but I've heard better 6/10

Nevermore - Matricide
You cannot miss with (old) Nevermore. That said, this would hardly be my choice of a great Nevermore song. Nice Queenrsÿche rip-off for the most part when the band is able to do so much more.

Judas Priest-Loch Ness

6/10

Main riff started off kind of forlorn in a way and then went into a more threatening modern JP riff. The guitar seems to just fart and Halford's voice is just tired sounding in the second minute of the song, Halford hits a hire note but it sounds kind of forced as we've all seen in live footage of him where he stands hunched trying to belch out the higher notes. The chorus reminds me of a darker version of the choruses from British steel, except with the added dimension of group vocals which are taken from insert X Crapowar album. The solo around 7:04 around with riffs going up a tempo similar to Candlemass in a way score the song a few points, and the double bass is a plus. Overall, the song is way too long and the main riff for the first six minutes is pretty weak.

Quite a few NYHC riffs sprouted around Steele's vocals, I don't think the band ever lost some of the roots from Carnivore. 2:28 brings in a massively influenced Sabbath riff that just creates the mental image of falling down an endless hole, the keyboards are added for great effect in an almost spacey fashion. The latter half exploits that dirge of a Sabbath riff to full effect with anguished crys and noisy soundscapes, but gives way to Steele's humorous lyrics about his own personal depression. Great song from a band that I'm just getting into

Skepticism - Antimony

Slow, heavy, epic, funeral doom is not usually my cuppa but this is pretty good.

If this is true, I need to listen to more TON. I fucking love Carnivore, but when deciding whether or not I should pick up some TON albums, I ended up listening to a bunch of random tracks on the net and not really digging the direction that much and forgetting about it.

Tips for which albums I should look into? Anybody?
