On first listen. Certainly dramatic enough but also rather forgettable? Hopefully a grower.

It is definitely a grower, at least it was for me. I do think that the whole album is very well structured, and thematic, and because of this coherence, it does feel rather fleeting. I personally wanted the album to be much longer in duration. But no, Ihsahn always wants something else.

There is truly nothing quite like this band and this recording, as far as I'm concerned.

This album radiates electricity and rattles the mind.

Ihsahn has really turned into true pioneer of minimalistic BM where he utilizes keys so effectively in his new release, and where riffs are used, only sparingly and when necessary. I'm playing an Emperor recording so I can have a much closer sense of his great progress. The new Ihsahn is truly the logical progress of Ihsahn well after 23 years.
