Great dramatizers and extraordinary musicians with a wealth of knowledge of the craft of music.

Yes, it's a great album. Had to agree with Goat's review. Looking forward to the new Ved Buens Ende album!

I was not cognizant of a new recording. To be completely honest, if they provide us with a new release every twenty years or so, I would still be content. Considering their eccentricities and rare comers to this all too mundane earthly existence.

Mostly playing what has been played from my playlist from the last few pages. Will post if something other than the most recent is played.

Nile were a driving and innovative force in death metal during their prime, which makes me wonder what happened to them in the current scene. Incantation/Immolation consistently tour and have loads of fans of that occult death metal style (spawning loads of clone bands), Dying Fetus can still sell out mid sized venues, Suffocation (sans Mullen) is still kicking as well- but poor Nile just hasnt seem to have kept up with these bands.

From what I've seen online Nile has a reputation for not being great live. For what it's worth I really enjoyed their last album, and am greatly looking forward to next year's release.

That's news to me. Every time I've seen Nile live, they've always been solid. Their output has been up-and-down since the move to Nuclear Blast, but TWTGD was a great return to form after the ho-hum penis record and, as you said, Vile Nilotic Rites more than delivered after the exit of longtime co-conspirator DT-W. Even the lesser albums from that period had their moments of brutal excellence. Nile may not be rewriting the book on Tech Death but I would say they're more than holding their own amongst their peers.

I'm just sharing what I've read elsewhere. I only saw them once and thought they were fine, but then I loved Dying Fetus live and have seen mixed opinions on them too. I don't think they've made a bad album, ever.

It doesn't not sound imminent but still love the idea of a second album finally happening. https://www.sputnikmusic.com/news/44987/Ved-Buens-Ende-prepare-new-album-/

Much obliged for the link. I think there are two fundamental ways of interpreting the extensive and prolonged periods of time in which they release recordings. One is that they are genuinely concerned with their artistic integrity and much earned repute, which they desire to protect, tooth and nail. Amidst the secondary point is that they may have family obligations, which seems as a bit unlikely, though never outside the sphere of possibilities (considering their general temperaments).

The second interpretation is that they are a bit extreme and fanatical about their kept artistic harmony, and just need to release something which I believe would be phenomenal anyway, considering the artistic sensibilities. My strong inclination is to think they are rather neurotic and obsessive about releasing albums which only obstructs rather clear the way for genuine artistic energies to flow naturally, causing a much more frequent release of albums, which is certainly not the case here. Once away for such a long period of time, the artist may even begin to doubt his own abilities as a musician, which I don't think is the case, contrary to all evidence.
