As colourful as a death metal can be. Quite possibly one of the most technically proficient death metal bands as well. Complimentary to the previous recording I was playing. Stellar.

I am not entirely sure I can fully take a liking to this recording. It has been a very long time since I've given this a chance since its release, and I can't say I feel any significant shift in my opinion since then, either. Perhaps I'll give it more playing time, but for now, the riffage seems to have greatly dropped in their allure and their immediate extremity and melody with which they were writing riffs, prior to their long break. Can't say I'm fulfilled by this album, which is very unfortunate really.

It has been long since I've heard this. Let's see how this goes.

Well, one thing is for sure. He is an original. I can't say Ruins is constantly on my playlist, but certainly once in a while for its sheer original conception. I just don't think originality always equates good music. Once in a while it does, but you'd need to have a very high acumen in musical brilliance, and I don't think Ruins is up par with that kind of ingenuity. Just my opinion. I know I am not exactly in the majority on this, on this website, at least. Nevertheless, an enjoyable ride, no less.

-Edit: A major revision. After a careful listening session I will comfortably confess that this music is entirely original but not only that it is justified but also artistically acclaimed by a rightful and the most reachable achievement. An ambition in the flesh.

In Tha Umbra

A very fine-tuned vocalist accompanied by magnificent following. A band determined to bring forth the despair and melancholia in the human condition. Very well done.



An unedited live recording. Meaning that all tracks were taken in one go without any further mediations in studio. I did not like it a whole lot, but I sat through all of it. I'd rather prefer the ambiance, and all the wonderful coloring and textures instead with the vocalist involved, accompanied by all the traditional instrumentations of a proper full length album instead.



Definitely a likeable recording but a bit on the emptier riffing side, at least in my opinion. Certainly theatrical, but perhaps a little too self-indulgent and on the shallow side.

Glorifying in the black metal spirit.

A return to something rather out of style. But this kind of beauty is permanent and never out of fashion, at least to my ears. A treasure to behold.

Stunning in heaviness and sheer mass of riffage.

Death metal supremacy.
