I couldn't get passed the third track of the Leviathan album. Moving back to a live Emperor album.

One of the more solid discographies, surely? Each one a jewel in its own way...

I completely concur. In fact, I am acquiring the re-issue of that very album come early October.

A magnificent way to spend the morning. Emperor is dead, long live the Emperor. I will also add that the way in which the riffs are designed and arranged, and not only that, but also the synthetization and vocalization are truly symphonic and very much authentic and truly at the extremity of a musical experience. A myriad of other bands have attempted to create symphonic BM in this vein, but I think, they have been utterly unsuccessful, for the most part, as far as my mind can reach. Anyone contrary to this opinion? Edit: The only real successful heir of Emperor I can currently think of is a band called Hidden In The Fog. A German band that only released two full-lengths and that was a long time ago.

This album is very early love of mine. The countless times I have listened to this album concentrated on its every note and changes until just a few years ago. And then, I stopped listening to it because I had heard it so much. This spin today is after a considerable amount of time and I have to say that it still gives me great pleasure, even after all these years.

The penultimate atmospheric album that inspired thousands of BM bands. I will say that if one were to adjusts the equalizer on the media player it does sound very different. Not to an extreme degree but very minuit and very slight changes. I am personally very happy about how this albums sounds. There are many fills from Faust on the drums, and generally, the drums sound as they typically should on a BM album from the mid-nineties.

Charming. The essential and the beautiful mysteries of the natural world reflected in this marvelous debut.

Wow, going through the classics today Dawn, I see. Impressive just to see these records all stacked together in the thread.

The boundlessly beautiful and the romantically irresistible. The sort of music I believe may only be listened to once in a while so as not the tinker with the delicacy and the fineness of the nature of music. Just my opinion. Always a pleasure. A vast landscape of the mind and of nature.

Edit: North, my only real issue with Negura Bunget is that the music is a bit too ethereal. Usually never in that kind of state of mind, or at least, very rarely so. I would think that the ethereality in their music is a characteristic that you greatly admire, however.

Yeah, except for Om (an all-time favorite) I actually don't listen to their albums very often. It's a delicate balance.

Yes, I remember Om being completely otherworldly. Will be back in this thread in a few hours time.

A special favourite of mine, no doubt. Pure and unmitigated supremacy.

I don't know about my valued virtual friends at this website their inclinations towards this album, but I personally find it a joy to listen to, and quite a stimulating listen in all its impressive complexity and dynamics. There have been many intervals that I was not listening to this particular album but there has never been a time that I have completely abandoned it, either. I find Luc Lemay to be a truly fascinating guitarist and a very thoughtful melody-maker, considering that he had already attended a musical conservatory prior to writing this album it does show a formal training in composition and a standardization of melody structure and the overall quality of the music recorded is certainly not casual and to its reverse is very much intended and developed.

This recording is so awe-inspiring and stunning in how glorious and excellent it is. The personification of artistic creativity without inaccessibility, without unnecessary esotericism, and without being unnecessarily nebulous. Natural, profound, and truly a pagan passion and full-breadth conviction.

Should I speak any further about the legendary status of this album? The mere recognition of the cover art by the knower will thrive insight into his sinews.
