I really like them until 'Up' when Bill Berry left. 'Fables' and 'Automatic' are probably my favorites. I actually just bought and listened to 'Reckoning' for the first time the other day...

For me, it's the Grateful Dead, a band I was first turned onto during my latter college years. I've only just recently started to really pursue their music, and I've already accumulated more shows than I can count. My favorite period is probably '71-'74, but that's not to say I don't like other years or that my preferences won't change any.

Hah, I listened alot to Astral Projection ten years ago, I loved that song "Unknown". I was all about techno back then... Are they still around? I haven't listened to them for sooo long.

New Symphony X...can't stop listening to it. And when I'm not listening to it, I can't get it out of my head. Not that I really want to...

Fuck something must be wrong with me, because I'm the opposite. I really want to get into this because I'm gonna see them in a couple of month's but I haven't clicked with this one yet. Some songs are great but others just seem to fly by unnoticed. I must have a few concentrated listens to this sometimes. The title track however is awesome, but I get the feeling this album is more towards their heavier side than Divine Wings and Twilight, and that wasn't quite what I was looking for. I guess it might take some time to fully digest this one though..

I dunno, the heavier sound is exactly why I like this CD so much. To each his own, I guess.

the only small thing i have to complain about on paradise lost, is that the sound is a little overpolished

Thats a tune! Yeah they're still around and making records and doing gigs. But they don't see to ever come to England  . You should dig em up and see if you still like em, :) . You might surprise yourself.

During the last month I've been listening to the entire Trypes discography most of the time. Trypes was a greek rock group with their rock music going through and encompasing all kinds of styles like alternative, punk, modern, folk, heavy, and many other things that only Trypes could and would ever try. They released several albums (all of them reaching cult status) and they are generally regarded as one of the most important and influencial Greek rock groups.

Neat old-school death metal bands like Nocturnus, Brutality and Pungent Stench. And some stuff that's pretty far "out there", like Of Montreal and Magma...

Of Montreal and Magma should do a collaboration. Magma playing twee pop would be awesome :D

Ah, so THAT's what it is.

Zeuhl has been a hard genre for me, honestly. Before diving deeper into post-rock and krautrock, I passed them off as unbearably retarded. Now I'm sort of "getting" it.

Yeah I haven't really gotten into Zeuhl yet... Magma seem interesting but still a little goofy to me.

Right now I'm looking for bands that haveheavy/aggressive and psychedelic jam session type things. Like Captain Beyond, or a more metal Camel.

Definitely, they're like 4/5ths instrumental, but really easy to get into without being elevator music.

I've been digging a lot of US black metal bands... with Xasthur, of course, being one of them. The split with Leviathan is fucking wicked.

I Shalt Become is kinda like Xasthur (and Burzum), and is worth checking out, methinks.

Funnily enough, I heard a track by them earlier today. Not bad at all.
