ARGH!! FUCKERS!!! Oooh, look at me! I wear a scary mask and can play drop-D one finger chords! OOh!!! I mean, come on, who the fuck needs 9 band members? and half of 'em don't even do anything, just jump around onstage! And sure, the drummer isn't bad, but everyone who listens to slipknot I know is all like "yeah dude that guy from slipknot is like the best drummer in the world" and I'm like "dude listen to this, it's George Kollias from Nile" or "guy named flo mounier, awesome shit, check it out...". One slightly more intelligent guy actually realized that Flo was better than the guy from Slipknot or Fear Factory, but otherwise... I HATE SLIPKNOT!!!! FUCKERSSSS!!!!!!

Amen! Jordison is a good and solid drummer no doubt about it, but so many fucktards claim he's "teh best drummer is da w0rld!!!11~!~" and it fucking pisses me off. Blargh

This thread is pretty pointless, I mean flaming these bands is nothing new so I don't really see why it needs to be done for the 2000th time.

What is really sad about this thread is that it shines a spotlight on a serious problem with the younger generation of music fans: you don't know how to have fun!

Do you honestly think Limp Bizkit ever wanted people to analyze them like they're trying to be scholars and poets? It's just FUN music. There's nothing to it, but that's the way it's supposed to be. The same thing goes with Linkin Park, but they're definitely a bit more serious. In the end, however, you don't listen to Linkin Park and expect "depth."

Yet so many of you do just that. You have this sort of unattainable criteria that you expect EVERY band to live up to. That's retarded in so many ways. Do you think those of us that grew up in the 80s went to a Warrant concert expecting to be blown away by their brilliant lyrics and virtuoso musicianship? Pffft! We went because IT WAS FUN! You guys don't know how to have fun with anything these days (when it comes to music).

You'd just rather talk shit and be hateful. It's sad and pathetic. I've always enjoyed Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. They're not my favorite band, nor will they ever be, but they've recorded some very good albums. I also saw Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park open up for Metallica a few years back, and I'm dead serious when I say this: both bands kicked ass live! They both had thousands of people at Foxboro stadium just having a blast! That is the type of shit that gives you goosebumps! It's FUN! I didn't walk away blown away by their poignant lyrics and Malmsteen-like playing, I simply had a fucking blast. And THAT is what it's about.

You guys need to learn to lighten up. All these negative shit-talking threads are proof enough. Again I ask the simple question (that no one seems able to answer): Why can't you spend so much time and energy discussing the positive aspects of music you ENJOY? Why so much negative bullshit?

Learn to have fun.

People can choose what they want to expect from music (and there are much more talented "fun" bands than LP or whatever). I just don't agree with wasting time listening to/flaming bands that already get too much attention anyways. :P

Sure, of course, but every time I hear someone slagging off a band like Limp Bizkit they're saying lame shit like, "arguably the sole creater of the dark times of Metal...". Hahahahahaha! WHAT? Are you kidding me? What the fuck did you expect from a band called Limp Bizkit? These discussions are so stupid!

Honestly, what did you expect?

That is pretty much what you do, though. All the time.

I dunno, I think noodles has a point in that there are fun bands who are better than the bands mentioned in this thread. A lot of power metal, for example; you can't call the last Majesty album anything but "fun", and their musicianship is still a cut above Limp Bizkit and their ilk.

@Ken: look dude i get what youre trying say, but look at the bright side, now we have thread dedicated on bashing bands, now people can say all they want and stop fucking up the other threads (especially yours), my advice would be that if you got anything nice or consrtuctive to say about these bands dont post it here make your own threads.

I'm just trying to say that people spend too much time bashing bands based on this criteria that the band never once tried to live up to. Limp Bizkit. Does anyone expect much from a band called Limp fucking Bizkit? Come on, if you do you're surely going to be disappointed. Take it at face value and quit whining.

Hmmm, simple. If you listen to slipknot because you are some angry kid who thinks he is metal and unique by listening to that shit, you got the bad way.

If you listen to it because you like the sound, or it satisfies some of your tastes or whatever, you got the good way

Your totally right, thats why i normally dont reply when others make threads about that kind of bands (i was going to type nu-metal bands, but i dont want to get a lecture from you  ) but the fact is that other people do fuck up threads and start flame wars when someone express some kind of appreciation for those bands, just look at the trivium or your mini reviews threads, so i feel that this thread is necesary for people to express their hatred for bands like this and stay out of the other serious threads( unless is a hit or miss thread then youre really asking for it).

No really, i agree with you, i hate people who only listens to music to fit in.

I don't necessarily mind people discussing a band like Limp Bizkit, even if it's negative, the problem is that when people say Fred Durst brought on the "dark ages of metal" I can only laugh and wish that people would just discuss intelligently...or, die.

Actually, according to my taste in music, metal got significantly better after Fred Durst became famous.

Ok, after a break called the weekend, good to see that some nerves have been touched. I appreciate that one man's garbage is another man's treasure but as mentioned this forum is designed mainly to get things off people's chests about those bands whose blantant marketing strategy is to take cash from kids by selling themselves as Metal/Rock, but are nothing of the sort.

I also like to add that when I got into metal in the 80s, bands I listened to were Maiden, Slayer, Metallica, Exodus, Megadeth, Testament and Anthrax, but I also, for my sins, liked Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Nirvana back then too. I understand that bands like Limp Bizkit can be used as a step up to better stuff, but these guys really don't deserve the money, nor appreciation and should be shamed for their soulless attempts to rip people off.

With that in mind, my list continues-

Marilyn Manson - I recently saw an interview with Brian where he stated that everyone loves a bad guy and Metal didn't have one, so he invented Marilyn. Solely aimed at cashing in on this idea, musically awful, the 'showman' just played an image and the world bought it. Made millions blending Goth with industrial, badly - I bet the Misfits were pissed.

Avenged Sevenfold - How does an average Metal band make it big when everything they do is far from original? Use the boyband method and surround themselves with 'good looking' blokes then try to sell themselves as Guns N Roses. Technically, they can play, but what they're playing is just an unashamedly soulless attempt to fill the GNR void revitalised by Velvet Revolver and get people buying into an image rather than use integrity of music.

Lost Prophets - In the UK, when these fellow Welshmen came out, they were seen as the saviours of UK Rock/Metal, but for fuck's sake, how bad are they! Not necessarily metal (although in the early days their down tuned guitars hinted of 'NU'), they have since transformed into the band they had in mind all the long - a USA angst pop punk combo like other cancerous players like AFI/Atreyu/Fall Out Boy/Good Charlotte etc, are. Simply terrible and avoid.

Ill Nino - Oh yes, I've been waiting to lay into this pile of crap band. Looking like Sepultura, they're nothing more than a Linkin Park Slipknot combo that reek of bandwagon. I actually bought their first album (cheaply thankfully) on the back of a roadrunner compilation and I was almost physically sick when I infected my player with it. You know when you buy a stinker and you can't force yourself past the fourth tune, that was me on first listen. When I did listen to it fully, it went into the bin straight after.

Chimera - Another band that 'looks like Sepultura' is this bunch of spineless arse. To me they're halfway between Ill Nino and Trivium, with argubly some of the worst 'Metalcore' tunes ever written. They're just seem to lack soul and they're the most unconvincing band I've possibly ever heard.
