Life Of Agony's cover of "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds is awesome.

Eeeeeeew.

Fag.

It sucks, dude. No improvement at all over the original.

It's actually quite good, I think.

At Vance did a cool cover of Money, Money by Abba. they also covered The Eagles' Desperado.

...I wouldn't say so. Most video game music is closer to techno than it ever will be to metal. Unless you were being sarcastic, and I can't tell...

Anyways, the one cover that comes to mind is Megadeth's "Anarchy in the U.K." It was all right, although I absolutely HATE the Sex Pistols.

SHADOWS FALL - WELCOME TO THE MACHINE

One of the baddest Pink Floyd covers I've ever heard. Easily. They sound like a metal version of Floyd! Another kick ass Floyd cover is, surprisingly, done by Kittie. I know you all will just shit on it, but it's a great cover. Very original.

KITTIE - RUN LIKE HELL

:dio:

First listen to these:

MEGAMAN THEME | BOSS MUSIC 1 | BOSS MUSIC 2

Now listen to this: GAME OVER - CATACLYSMIC CLASH

Now do the same, listen to these:

ZELDA THEME | DUNGEON MUSIC

Now listen to this: GAME OVER - HYRULE'S ANGEL

Video game music is metal. :dio:

EDIT: Cut and paste that fucking link. We need to upgrade this software, that shit is lame.

I should clarify; NES and SNES music are metal. Newer games are as unmetal as noodles. :P

In addition to Eyesore's suggestions, also check out The Black Mages and there is also a Cellador cover of a Mega Man II song out there somewhere.

Hum ...

Depends on the game I guess.

Those Megaman samples Ken posted are metal indeed. But I don't hear metal on the Zelda ones.

The most popular games in history, the Mario franchise, or even Sonic the Hedgehog don't have metal. But Street Fighter II has, like Ken's theme.

Black Mages rule :dio: . They take non-metal songs (final fantasy songs are 95% of the time orchestrated movie-like scores) and turn them into metal.

The Black Mages (Nobuo Uematsu) writes the Final Fantasy music.

I know, dude. He rules.

I wonder if there's ever going to be a third Black Mages album ...

I can kind of see what you're saying...it sounds kind of like a metal song with techno distortion. That actually makes sense, but that's still closer to techno than it is to metal, at least in my opinion.

Also, there are definitely some games that have metal soundtracks. But most don't.

And also, that Pink Floyd cover by Shadows Fall is insane.

Dude, listen to DragonForce's "Black Fire." You'll hear part of the Double Dragon theme song in there. Listen to Cellador and DragonForce, both of those bands are heavily influenced by NES music. Go to this site; http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/nes/ and listen to Contra, Mega Man, Castlevania, Double Dragon, Beatle Juice, FF, or almost anything.

I never said that metal isn't influened by video game music. There's a definite influence there--no doubt about it. The point I was making is that most video game music isn't really metal...but whatever, it's not really important. Video game music owns.

On a separate note: I just heard Dream Theater's cover of Achilles Last Stand today, and it owns! They really do a great job of making it their own rather than just copying Led Zeppelin.
