It was fine until people started naming entire bands.

Obviously, every song by the Stones, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin or the Beatles isn't overplayed.

Yeah, but songs as Sexy Sadie, Yer blues, Happiness Is a Warm Gun, etc are overplayed?

How many times you've listened (in radio or bars) songs like She's Got Balls, Ride On, Go Down, Ruff Stuff or almost any one of Black Ice?

I undestand the Boston one, cause almost all first two records are overplayed. But not all Beatles or all AC/DC.

It is a forum: we exaggerate. The heavily played songs from said bands prevent my rational judgement of the band's overall body of work.

Sympathy for the Devil, Come Together, Thunderstruck, and Hey Jude are what I rationally meant.

Overplayed songs can cause the loathing of groups.

Yes. and it's a pity, because bands with great catalogs are loathed for 5-10 overplayed songs.

I think it is obvious that we can choose not to listen to a song or a band, but when that choice s out of our hands, these are the songs and bands that get so overlayed it makes us wanna throw up now.

"I never want to hear Thin Lizzy at a bar again"

Now, lets take a look at this statement. We all know they do not play Thin Lizzy's entire discography. We all know you are gonna hear "The Boys are Back in Town" just as well as when someone says they are tired of AC/DC the songs in question are not "all of them." But the overplayed ones, and we all know these songs too. I listen to a ton of stuff that was very poplar at the time, I like to avoid everything except what I play on my stereo so I am not sick of songs I thought were amazing.

Can't think of any. Songs that I've heard a billion times have a soft spot in my heart and don't really bug me.

To be honest, I'm sick of AC/DC as a band because all their songs sound the same anyway ololol

Oh and anything from Ozzy(except for Crazy Train because I like Randy Rhodes guitaring in that song)for reasons that Legacy mentioned about AC/DC.

I don't know about "Songs/bands I never want to hear again." But there are certainly bands I never want to hear covered again. Seriously, is there some unwritten rule stating that every metal band must do at least one AC/DC, Led Zep or Deep Purple cover? I'm sorry, but Cannibal Corpse covering You Shook Me All Night Long doesn't sound like something I'd want to listen to for any reason other than comedic value.

Easy, Stairway to Heaven! That song is a perfect example for pure overplay exposure.

I thought about mentioning that one but I didn't because it gives me mixed feelings. I can't stand it when they play it on the radio because it's almost literally the one and only Led Zep song they play. On the other hand, when it pops up on my ipod I never skip it because it remains a great song.
