High on Fire, Anvil, Mastodon, Cooper, Zombie, Slayer, Deth would all be worth seeing. I know you hate HoF but they put on a dman good live show.

they play day 1 so I'll definitely see them.

They are growing on me...

you keep Lamb of God but you delete Anvil?

Never heard Anvil. Even guys that I knew who were kicking abnout in the 1980's and got into the extreme or obscure music of the time (i.e. anything from Tank to Possessed to the 10 million German thrash bands present at the time) never knew much about Anvil.

It seems that some doco maker pulled them from obscurity and made them seem bigger than what they were.

People do that all the time - I've heard journos writing about Onslaught and Cancer as if they were the biggest bands of the day. Both were good bands but they were nobodies. in the grands scheme of things

By the same token I've read modern articles where WASP and Manowar are touted as underground bands of the 1980s.

I gotta agree. The lineup does look mediocre. It would be cool to see Testament. I can't imagine enjoying a slayer show. Megadeth will probably play a bunch of songs that are mediocre.

I think what you meant to say about Megadeth and Slayer is really about Testament.

He's right. I saw Megadeth/Testament /Exodus not too long ago and Testament were pretty weak.

There are more bands that i'd rather not see than want to see. So putting the cash towards it would be silly. And Montreal is pretty far from me.

I've seen both Alice Cooper and Alexisonfire when they came to our student pub for 5 dollars a ticket. Alice Cooper is a fun show.

Wow. I feel like you are totally wrong about Anvil.

so the festival is 43 days away, and the line-up is finalized.

MASTODON
TESTAMENT
MELISSA AUF DER MAUR
FEAR FACTORY
HIGH ON FIRE
ANVIL
KATAKLYSM
36 CRAZYFISTS
BAPTIZED IN BLOOD
SKELETONWITCH

Day 2:
KORN
ROB ZOMBIE
AVENGED SEVENFOLD
LAMB OF GOD
ALEXISONFIRE
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH
AIRBOURNE
DESPISED ICON
HATEBREED
3 INCHES OF BLOOD
WINDS OF PLAGUE
CHIMAIRA
ATREYU
IN THIS MOMENT
NORMA JEAN
SHADOWS FALL
LES ÉKORCHÉS
DEADLY APPLES

bands I care about:
Megadeth
Slayer
Alice Cooper
Rob Zombie
Testament
Anvil
Halford
Airbourne
3 Inches of Blood
High on Fire
Kataklysm
Skeletonwitch

Day 1 >>> Day 2
if only I could get Rob Zombie, 3IOB and Airbourne to switch with 36 Crazfists, Baptized in Blood and Melissa Auf Der Maur...

also, what you fail to grasp is that Canada does not get the big metal festivals like europe or even the US get. So when one comes around, they need to cater to all tastes.

sure Atreyu is garbage, but the people who run the festival need to make money to sign these bands.

kiddies like Atreyu
kiddies = money

not a difficult concept to grasp

I'd look out for Fear Factory while you're there. Hoglan will be worth seeing at least.

You don't like HoF.

forgot about Hoglan, will watch out for that.

HoF will be good live, and so will Mastodon actually. I saw Mastodon at Heavy MTL 08 and they were very cool.

Great to see Anvil getting out there and finding some gigs. They sure do deserve it.

Overall, sounds like a decent lineup. I'd go if I were able
