The promise of violence will often lure the young people out of their holes, it's a fairly common phenomenon.

Ke$ha =

Anyway, become a connoisseur of retro stuff like the Madchester scene. Really fucking cool, if you don't know it already. Check this out, for example:

So have any of you guys even really been to a club? One with a really hoppin' DJ? Goin' with a bunch of friends, getting torn up, and dancing like a fool? Come on, now. You gotta at least experience it.

Oh man, that damn tik tok song has so many remixes and I think I've gotten good dance floor action just about every single time that crap comes up. lol

Yeah that's actually not too bad... Really relaxed. I'm usually into I guess what's called the " banger " stuff where it's just up in your face the whole time.

Gonna check out some more of that, not too bad at all.

And yeah, Fridg, I love the old stuff but I dunno... It's something I prefer to listen to in the tape deck in my car ( My car is a POS and I'm too lazy to get an adapter for an IPOD or something ) or on the radio. I can't really jam out to old stuff for hours on end unless it's like Pink Floyd.

The problem here, i suspect, is that you haven't diversified your metal listening enough.

Nah, I don't think so.

Anyway, goin' out to da clubs tonight. Supposedly there's some really bangin' house being spun by a local DJ I follow here so I'm excited. Next good local metal show isn't for another couple weeks, then I'm stuck until April for Vader.

I'll just snatch this thread and say that I'm becoming bored with metal as it is today.. On the prowl for something new. However, I always appreciated the older stuff. (DW! Remember that list of 70's-stuff I asked you for?)

If someone could do me a big one and recommend a bunch of prog rock, nwobhm, catchy/melodic avant-garde for newer thing. Stuff like that I would be happy. I'm pretty familiar with all those genres so leave out the basics :)

that Tik tok song is like a virus. I hear it everywhere and I can't get it out of my brain. It's frustrating :P

Yeah, songs like Tik Tok make me depressed for my future knowing that I'll invariably end up hearing terrible music no matter what I do because it'll be everywhere. I don't have to go out of my way to listen to it, I'll just be walking down the street and somebody will drive by and, oh hey!, there's Tik Tok. Thoughts of similar situations happening for the rest of my life kind of bum me out (/grain of salt, tongue in cheek).

But hey, have fun!

It's a note he gets in his comment box. He responds with "that's not exactly what I would call constructive criticism" then he gets called stinky and told he needs a shower while he gets sprayed in the face.

Whenever I think of the "club scene" I always imagine wall to wall douchebags.

It can be that way, but honestly, most of my friends are into metal/hardcore and whatever. They're real people, not douchebags. It can be fun when you get together with a group of good people, get wasted, and listen to a DJ tear it up while you bust it out on the dance floor.

It's just another place for me to go out and interact with people and be social. I really like doing that.

I find it entertaining. Haters gonna hate. I wouldn't be doing it if I weren't having a good time with friends and meeting new people. It's extremely easy to find a good local DJ on a friday night here than a good metal show.

Hey, man whatever works for ya.
No judgment here.

Have you heard Bible of the Devil - The Diabolic Procession or Antiquus - Eleutharia? They r awesome. Night Sun and Cargo are some pretty jammin hard/prog rock from the 70s. Colour Haze are also the best and you should listen to them because they're the best.

I've been to clubs twice and yeah it was wall to wall douchebags. Kind of disappointing because the people who turned into douchebags were pretty cool outside of the club. Not my scene at all I guess, especially since I don't like the loud noise/drinking combo for social interaction.
