No, your not the on;y one, I love synth pop back in the 80's like Ministry, Souixe and the Banshee, Bauhaus, Skinny Puppy, Nitzer ebb(industrial), Severed Heads, Revolting Cocks, Front 242, Depeche Mode, Madness(UK), New Order, Pet Shop Boys, etc.

which then lead to me to like punk, G.B.H and Exploited then the Bay area thrash then the 90's death metal movement and so on.

I suggest you to listen to Nitzer Ebb. It's badass industrial with alot of synth. Badass material. You will not disappoint.

I wouldn't call many of them "synth-pop" at all. Fine, early Ministry, but putting Pet Shop Boys in a catagory with Skinny Puppy is a bit

My bad. Your right. Pet shop boys are a different catergory as well as Skinny Puppy. It's been since 1985. I don't know. I was thinking of The New Wave movement.

The quality of the Germans expose once again. Man, Germans are full of fashion to their metal, am I right or wrong?

Synthpop is a great genre and if you like Freezepop and those types of bands I would recommend heading over to the darkwave/industrial side of things like others here recommended and not in any particular order:
-Beborn Beton
-And One
-Colony 5
-Neuroticfish
-Angels and Agony
-VNV Nation
-Blutengel (although they might be a stretch)
-Wolfsheim
-Covenant

I go through "phases" of music listening and more often than not Metal is played the most. However, if you're like me and enjoy electronic music, synthpop/darkwave offer something in the way of "serious" electronic music (not including Freezepop HA). I also listen to your standard Eurodance/trance hits and those get really repetitive and boring so.....I listen to those aforementioned bands above! Enjoy!

Neither Siouxsie & The Banshees, nor Bauhaus are "synth-pop".

some EBM bands worth a listen:
Asphyxia
Combichrist
Tactical Sekt
Feindflug
Psyclon Nine
Haujobb
Dawn of Ashes
Virtual Embrace
Tamtrum

and of course
Wumpscut
Throbbing Gristle

Violet Stigmata, which (as far as I can tell) are a combination between Deathrock and Electro, are pretty interesting, too.

Badass.

Why not?
This thread is pretty loosely based.
