Good news!

Speaking of English doom acts, MDB's next ep is coming out May 27th, and features at least one 'death metal' track.

http://www.mydyingbride.net/item/my-dyi ... g-may-27th

Oddly they decided to push up that date to May 13, for those of us splitting hairs.

I like Cathedral, but that song is a bit too long for me. It gets boring around 5 minutes.

DEP posted a snippet trailer for their new album. I don't normally care about these things, but I hopped on this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNXFrH1P ... e=youtu.be

The albums seems to have another Justin Timberlake meets hardcore track and so I will be pleasantly satisfied I foresee. Seems to be of the same quality as Option Paralysis, less experimentation and more straightforward rockers.

Russian Circles/These Arms are Snakes's bassist on piracy. I basically agree.

It's far from St. Anger bad, but it's not good.

It's nowhere near St Anger bad but yes, that's rather poor and very much like late 90s 'Deth, when we're getting used to '10s 'Deth being solid. Although I will say that everyone hated the first tracks from Thir13teen when it first emerged too, and that turned out to be a solid album, so I'm going to wait for the full album before damning it completely. No-one'll be more gutted than me if Megadeth release a crap album, I'm pretty much a fanboy at this stage. I will point out the song has a decent bit of lead guitar in it, something that we can count on at this stage in the band's career... Probably one of the more single-type tracks from a varied album. *fingers crossed* *worried face*

I agree with Zad 100%, need to hear more before this becomes worst album of the year. The solo was alright, and it really wasn't as bad overall as the comments at metalsucks would make you think.

The whole album is already on Youtube... I've only listened to The One Inside and I find that an immensely enjoyable song.

The whole album is fucking amazing. It's awkwardly early-2000s nu metal/industrial tinged like Powerman 5000, but exponentially better.

Remember Varg and his missus' bonkers film about bear cults?

Well,

Quote:
Sôl austan, Mâni vestan is inspired by and made for the "ForeBears" movie by Marie Cachet and Varg Vikernes, where much of the Scaldic music from "Sôl austan, Mâni vestan" appears, only in unmastered form, as a soundtrack.

All instrumental, apparently. Low expectations, and am annoyed that he's releasing it as a Burzum album. How dare he do what he want with his own project, damnit!

I don't think anybody here like Author & Punisher in the way that I love the dude's work, but this quote right here is fucking amazing:
Quote:
That’s what I am hearing in my head. I wrote a song in my head over the last two years, and I want to make that song. I can’t make that song until I build the machines.

New album in June, Women & Children, the last album on his current set of machines, afterwards he'll build new ones. New song 'In Remorse', a little less dissonant: http://pitchfork.com/features/the-out-d ... nivores/4/

ok lets see what I can offer in this thread

firstly the new Megadeth album, the demo I heard of this was absolutely awful and I have no intention of wasting any money on it.

new Immolation that track slays can't wait for that one.

new Queensryche (not Geoff Tait's Queensryche) the demo track Cold was mediocre in my opinion but that's good since I was expecting an aurul abortion.

new Deep Purple could be good I'll buy it but don't have massive expectations

new Orphaned Land "All Is One" will apparently have a doom-like quality to it which is new for the band and as I generally enjoy their music I'm quite excited for this one.

Judas Priest in the studio recording a new album I'm not sure what to make of that news and the new Black Sabbath album scheduled for this year is also in that boat

solid chance of a second album from the Utah based Doom/Death band Nevertanezra and the Gothic/Doom/Death band Avernus are also things I'm looking forward to
