Your arrogant so-called litmus test! Venom is shitty musicianship backed up by nothing by raw punk-ish power that can be appreciated once every two years as I have mentioned before. It by no means has the connotation that anyone that can't appreciated Venom can't appreciated or have a strong liking to other raw BM bands.

It was a facetious remark... anyway, Francis, stop taking yourself so seriously. You're like the snob dismissing a good action flick as rubbish whilst comparing Kurusawa's films to Herzog's, glass of wine in hand...

Whatever floats your boat, as you say yourself. It was facetious... And I knew that. But you are a purest at heart and you know it

BTW, I love the first Diehard!

V. I definitely was not insinuating such a remark, whatsoever. A mere innocent humorous observation. That's all :)

No worries, man, we're cool.

But lets not hijack the thread.

Mithras-Bequeath thy visions

8

The double bass is incredibly clicky and the drumming levels anything in its place, the riffs themselves are of course with an air dry guitar tone but I don't mind that so much. I don't recall Worlds beyond the veils having that much of a wall of sound though, the constant blasting is reminiscent of the faster portions of Gateways to Annihilation. All and all the song is just a militant piece of death metal with hints of technical footling that came before Decrepit Birth's material. The vocals are more of a shouting type of approach, not bad and all and all a great intense fucking song.

Ancient Rites - Mother Europe
I really dig their last two output. Haven't heard anything before that but this is a good track. 7/10

Didn't like the edit much as it leaves out the epic parts, but hell, the full song is a 10/10.

Hail of Bullets - Operation Z. I remember not liking Hail of Bullets when they first started up. I felt like I should like them but it never clicked. As of recently, I had gotten more into Swedish dm and so hoped that maybe with this listen it would gel with me. Nope. I don't like the sound of the riffs. The drums wash them out, pushing them into the background. When they actually become discernible, they don't end up doing anything. The vocals sound slurred. 3/10
