One of my absolute favorites Husker :dio:

Godthrymm is new doom band from the most technically skilled past members of MDB in Hamish Glencross/Shaun Taylor-Steels. Pretty solid stuff in the Cathedral/Candlemass vein with a touch of MDB and Gregor Mackintosh leads as well, but the epic doom vocals make it a tougher listen. Also I'm sorta clueless as to why Steels left MDB for this band (which would showcase his 'drumming talents moreso than MDB') when there is no doublebass on this EP. A shame that the same guy who ended Barghest O'Whitby and combined patterns and blastbeats so well on tracks like 'The Raven and The Rose' isn't interested in playing heavier.

Speaking of MDB, I'm concerned about their upcoming album as Glenncross and now Steels have quit MDB over creative differences. These two guys were main cogs in The Dreadful Hours, Map of All Our Failures and Barghest, and in stark contrast, the last album Calvin Robertshaw wrote riffs for was 34.788% complete. I'll just have to trust Aaron and Andy as I have for decades now.

Sabbath influence is clear. The riffs do Iommi justice, though.
Old, new, it's all the same to me as long as it bangs my head.
For fans of old school doom, check them out.
