I've thought this a few times, and now I'm willing to accept it: Opeth - Damnation is my favourite album of all time.

I don't know why, but it always gets in me like no other album can.

Anyone else feel similar about this album, or another?

Deliverance holds that title imo.

my favourite album of all time is The Postman Syndrome - Terraforming for 3 reasons:

-It's really good
-Nobody else has heard of them so they're like my pet band.
-They've split up so there's no chance of them ruining my perception of them.

Damnation is surely one of the top albums of all time, but my personal favorite is Still Life. It brings out feelings nothing else can, and I'm not just talking about music here. It has that special place for me, and the best way to enjoy it is during a winter stroll in the forest with headphones and a full moon gazing at me.
I also love the fact that it tells a story. It's a great concept.

Very solid album. I can understand why you would rank it so highly.

All my friends and family go on and on about how I like "death metal"... so when we have them over for dinner... I put on Damnation. Whenever it's a new guest they ALWAYS ask: "What is this??? It's amazing" I usually wink at them and say, "Opeth, they are a Swedish death metal band"... and watch the synapses misfire.

Damnation is a great album. Best EVER? I still vote The Chemical Wedding (metal). And is that metal, or non-metal, because there are a lot of non-metal albums I'd place above it.

Deliverance is good as well, just more DM than people expected.

Damnation was a good album. Shocked me at first. But I still enjoy 'Still Life' more.
