I'm trying to record a couple of songs but alas, I am no good at programming a drum machine, and frankly would prefer not to use one. Is anyone an experienced drummer who would be willing to record a drum track for this project? PM me if you are.

Use guitar pro to compose the drums then re-record it by looping through the soundcard.

Thats if you don't mind absolutely shitty sound and the absence of any natural sounding aspect of the drum. Personnaly i find a more raw and butched approach to drums a lot more appealing than some kind of machine making it sound literraly too "perfect". Early blind guardian being the best exemple I can find. I wish I could help you H_T but drums are far from my speciality and i do not know of any drummers that are available right now to help you. But if you need any guitar, bass, keys or vocals track I will be happy to provide.

except for the fact that Guitar Pro has complete dynamic controls and uses the Realistic Sound Engine which will emulate the variation in a human player. There is nothing mechanical about it whatsoever. Tons of bands have used this or similar because drums are a complete afterthought, as is the usual in power metal at least. I understand where you are coming from, but you could tell someone with a straight face they are live and they would have no way to call you a liar. 99% of the people won't notice or care. I would always record my own drums, absolutley, ut this is a great option until you can afford to get Vinny Appice to stop y one afternoon. You can really embellish the parts to your taste. Maye it is something Lars should look in to.

Well I guess you're right on some points(most people wont even notice) and at least you understand what I meant. Still this all comes down to personnal taste and studio techniques (everyone has their way of working) and we could debate for hours how our techiques are better than other's.
