Oh, come ON, ‘mock’ was a figure of speech. Read my reviews, when do I ever mock a band? And OK, sometimes the feedback from the forum is less than positive, but I don’t see this as an automatic bad thing. Fans letting musicians know that their music is dreadful is an essential piece of the puzzle.

Zad, you're not that stupid. There is a difference between negative feedback and talking shit. You know this. Negative feedback is a rare thing on this forum. Shit talking is 90% of the posts. I'm sure everyone hear has heard Syren's Call before, right?

Nazis? You're talking about a place that most of the reviewers wanted to get rid of because of all the bullshit. It has nothing to do with being forum nazis; it has to do with having some damn integrity and respect. Plain and simple. This website claims to be about promoting music, but the forum embraces the tearing down of that very same thing. That makes sense?

You're going way OTT here. It's a Metal website, full of metalheads, not the society for the promotion of 3rd world artists. It's a brutal world, and for brutal music fans there's nothing untoward about a calling a band crap. That does not mean that we're single-handedly responsible for making sure that every fledgling band that sends in a demo gets encouragement. If they're good, sure, if not, why the hell should we?

Anyways, you should know by now that the site and the forum have very little to do with each other. Radagast's a moderator, not a spokesman for the site; attacking him is plain silly.

I post at other metal websites that are nothing like this one. There are definitely worse out there, but this is still bad. And most of you are not metalheads; you simply like some metal bands. Big difference.

And I do know the forum and the site have little to do with each other—in terms of giving a shit, of course. But that's a problem.

Bloody hell. Ken's a gonna craaaazy. I can see your point but as you said-this is the internet. Where 'wimps act tough'. If you want to meet somebody who will disregard anything you say (musically) because they dont like it, it's me in reality. To quote some guy:

It's just a bit of banter.

Notes to Ken:
-I buy CDs every week
-I also download albums
-I discuss music on the internet, with my friends and with complete strangers in the pub and at gigs
-I talk shit for fun on the internet and in real life
-I go to shows almost constantly, I support bands in my local scene by promoting them on sites like this and by buying their merchandise whenever I can afford to
-I go out of my way to write 4 reviews every month
-I am a metalhead
-go fuck yourself

Just curious, what metal sites are better than this? Cause as noodles said, no place I've ever been is nicer than MR. Most places only care about brutal death metal/black metal and shit all over anything else, even stuff we would say is legit like power and heavy.

Rock on, tough guy. Gotta love the idiots that mock while doing the very thing they're mocking.

No offense, but I would never openly post the links to those forums. Not here.

Heatseeker, to get to these forums you have to walk into a wardrobe, right to the back. Then if you are very, very lucky you will see some snow. You'll be alarmed but keep walking and you'll see a lampost. Waiting there will be a fawn called Mr Tumnus. He will guide you to these forums, and he will prove to you that they're not just a figment of Ken's imagination.

Anyway, your band sounds very professional and I am impressed. It's not really what I like to listen to as I find it a bit cheesy. But I'm sure some of the less manly people in the metal scene will dig it a lot.

Please please please won't you let us in on your secret, Ken? I really want to go to a place with integrity where people treat eachother right. It makes me really sad that I'm not invited to your secret forum. Sometimes I cry. I try not to, but I just think about what I'm missing. Your posts are so amazing. What a wonderful place it must be if everyone there supports the scene as much as you. You're a real hero.

The idea of striving to find the ultimaaat metthhhuuulll fooorraaaam just seems a bit ridiculous to me. Plus yeah, I think that MR is tame on bashing bands.

Did I strive to find the ultimate metal forum? Did I say that? I just happened upon it. It's part of a music site I'd been a fan of for years; I simply never knew they had a forum until about two years ago (the link is tiny and not noticeable). Either way, when the members of Hirax, Jon Oliva's Pain, Line of Fire, Once Dead, and many other bands post there, it's pretty cool.

But this was never about that forum. So quit trying to twist my words into something I never said (classic MR idiot move). I was simply pointing out that asshats like rio, Radagast and Octavarius make this forum a sad companion to a decent webzine. The argument of "Well, there's worse out there!" is a joke. It doesn't change the fact that a good number of you are tools and failures at life. And you make this forum suck.

Right! I know. I can leave any time, huh? True. At least I have that choice. Too bad an idiot will always be an idiot.

The purpose of this thread:

Hi there,

The D-Day has finally come: the DVD « Live From the Abyss » has been delivered and we are very pleased with the result (you will see that the digipak is great!).

So now is the time for promotion with firstly a brand new website. Please visit it at http://www.syrenscall.com and leave a message on our guestbook to tell us what you think!

Promotion also concerns live gigs and we are glad to invite you to the following acoustic showcases and signing session:

- 10 May Métrophone in Brussels (2 shows at 3 and 5 PM – 14 passage St-Honoré – Free acess)
- 31 May at Metal Zone in Aalst (Belgium) (3 PM – Korte Zoutstraat 25A – Free acess)

Other dates will follow.

We remember you that « Live From the Abyss » contains the 10th anniversary concert of the band recorded on the 3rd of May 2007 at the Nautylis of Comines, France (2 hours of concert), two bonus (the story of the band and the making-of of the concert) and a CD with the audio track of the gig. The DVD+CD is presented in a full-colour digipak with a 8 pages booklet.

A new teaser of the DVD is available here:
http://www.dailymotion.com/SYRENSCALL/video/x52jdc_syrens-call-live-from-the-abyss_music

An audio extract is also available here: http://www.myspace.com/syrenscall.

“Live From The Abyss” will be released the 6th of June on Thundering Records/Pervade Productions but it is already available on http://www.syrenscall.com.

Thanks for spreading this news in your networks.

Musically,

SYRENS CALL

I'm going to delete any posts after this one that are not on topic.

Apologies to Syrens Call for the flamefest (yes, including me) that followed this initial post.

Hi there,

I am quite surprised to see that out of nearly 40 posts only the last one contains an opinion about the music of my band SYRENS CALL.

The purpose of my post was to attract your attention on the release of our new DVD and nothing else !

Anyway I hope that some of the post-fighters (!!) have taken some time to come and visit our website or myspace. Just in case they would like to give us a chance to show what we do.

Take care
Seb
