Ive been looking at a lot of reviews recently and I notice that a lof of high scores are being given to many of the bands (80s and 90s) and if that goes exactly how it is it means that these albums are either outstandinig or masterpieces. Those are big words. When I think masterpieces, I think Kill em all or something. I think you should either review more harlshly or remake the point scheme. I thnk you should

70-79 very good. Move that to the 80-89.
90-99 shoudl be outstanding
100-Legendary (classic is a synonym imo)

My scores are accurate according to what the scores mean on this site. If I give a CD a score of 90 or above, I think it's a frickin' masterpiece!

I agree. I'm not saying any of the reviewers here overrate albums, but I sure as hell do when I quote them.

Most reviews are fair, but you should be reading the reviews anyway not just glancing at the scores!

Do they seem high just based on the score and you can't see how so many people can score albums that high? Or do you read the reviews and think the scores don't match?

yea its basically that so many people have those high scores. The reviews themselves are excellent so i got no problems with that.

My opinion (and just MY opinion I must stress, I don't speak for the team) is this:

I think one problem that the site does have is that in the past many albums have been over quoted. The scores of 90+ have been handed out too liberally. I think the reviewers now are a lot harsher (a good thing) and have noticed that there tends to be less 90+ scores every week. However because of the previous quotes, you now almost HAVE to quote an album over 90 in order to make it look brilliant due to the scores given out in previous years. It's not something that can be changed, except by current reviewers being more stringent. I've been making a conscious effort to try and keep things below 90 unless it's REALLY AWESOME, as in my ETOS review this week. Previously I probably would have given it a 90+ but made a conscious effort to make the score more measured.

I also agree with following the reaper, read the review to get a better idea about the album as opposed to glancing at the score.
