Post subject:  Custom User Ranks
As y'all know, we don't have the abilty to allow custom user ranks. Several have requested their own ranks, or a new system of some sort. It would also be overwhelming timewise if everyone wanted their own rank created and applied to their account.

So, I have a couple ideas.....

1) Our existing ranks end at 5,400 posts. After that point, there are a couple joke thresholds (as Zad well knows), but no real ranks after that. The first option would be for you to come up with a user rank scale that extends the existing scale beyond 5,400. Aaron posted such a scale in the other "User Ranks" thread. So, if you all want to come up with something like that, that's option 1.

2) Come up with a list of custom ranks you'd like to see added. After a week or so, I'll put the reasonable ones into a huge poll, and add enter the top 15-20 into the system. From there, everyone can pick their custom rank from that list.

Also, we've (Aleksie mostly) come up with a few ourselves. If no one really cares one way or the other, we could add those and be done with it.

Perhaps if Philip is motivated to upgrade phpbb because of spamming custom user ranks would be possible? All I saw in the previous thread was a bunch of random attempts at humour perhaps only funny to the person themselves?

Anyways, I think the ranks are fine as they are.. esp. the current top one 'Ist Krieg'. I seriously don't think anyone could come up with something better than that.

I mentioned the spam issue to Philip, and he is looking at various ways to combat the problem with the existing phpbb. If we could find a new bb that isn't too time consuming or problematic (erasing all current posts, for example), that's a good idea too. I'm sure this will be a much bigger project than tweaking the exisitng phpbb, so I wouldn't bank on custom ranks in the very near future. We just have to figure out what we can do with the limited amount of time that can be devoted to this. So, that's why I figued this would be a good enough thing to do in the meantime.

Who's young apprentice?). 99% of the people that come here won't even know who Varg is, I've been hearing the name for past few days and I still don't know who the hell that is. I just know he's some source of amusement for you guys.

i think we can make song titles that can be ranked like that.
being a lost forgotten sad spirit is obviously not as good as being say a master of puppets.
