Post subject: Question About Including MP3s In Reviews?
PostPosted: Sun Jan 01, 2006 8:41 am
You guys know how I've been putting MP3 links at the end of the reviews, well, this week I've reviewed an album that came out in 1994. The band was short-lived and fairly unknown, and the CD is generally not easy to find. Of course, that means there are no MP3s online anywhere. Amazon.com has some clips, but they sound like crap.

I said before I would never upload an MP3 on my own, I'd only link official MP3s. Now I'm having second thoughts. Should I put a song or two on Megaupload, or whatever? I'd like you guys to hear this band because I think many of you would like them. So what should I do? The album was released by Black Mark and they don't even print it anymore, so by uploading an MP3 or two I really wouldn't be harming anyone.

Thoughts?

Why not? If by doing so more people are likely to buy the album, I see not problem. Maybe you should make it unofficial though, just in case....

In other words, Ken's going to upload some music from his PC so we can hear it. Yay or nay? I say yay but not official.

Geddit, dear S?

Well, see, that's the thing. The album is out of print. It's also not easy to find. The band broke up 11 years ago. By uploading an MP3 it won't hurt anyone. The band won't lose any money because they can't lose royalties on an album that the label doesn't even make nor offer anymore.

If there were an official MP3, surely I would link it, but there's nothing but crappy samples on Amazon.com (which is surprising, really).
