I wonder if it might be beneficial to have a clarification thread somewhere on the site for bands that seem to fall into three different categories, like: Nevermore, Pelican, Meshuggah, Opeth. That way there would be some continuity to the polls. What do you think?

Pelican go under the Avant-garde one, no? Meshuggah and Opeth are prog, at least according to this site's reviews, and I put Nevermore in thrash, although some clarification on that would be helpful.

See, I put Nevermore in Heavy/Power/True, as did a few others. I agree with you on the Pelican, Meshuggah, and Opeth. I just think there's a risk of a great album losing out because it's votes are scattered through two or three different polls.

Yeah, I definitely don't see Nevermore as a thrash band. And I'd put Opeth in death metal, but then again I only have one of their album, so they may be more proggy than I realize.

It's called discussion threads :)

At any rate, the votes will add up. If somebody puts Bon Jovi in the Doom/Death voting thread, besides getting his ass kicked, is really no big deal. When we add them up Bon Jovi is going to get only one vote for the Doom/Death album of the year and it'll fall off the radar.

That's also why is so important that your votes will have the specific format we've asked for. If they don't, the vote won't be picked up by our script and will not be counted.

Yeah, I realize that. I was just saying that, even with discussion threads, I have seen Nevermore in two or three different polls, and thought it might be wise to set a standard. Incidentally, thank you Daniel for clearing up the ones that you did.
