How come some people have avatars that go over the maximum size?

I loved that scene, the saw went in so smoothly :x
I thought the movie "Saw" would contain something allike, but all I got was some lame cam angle in which you can't see a fucking thing :cry:

OK, so how do you put an avatar that you've picked on the web somewhere? This type of stuff, i'm not that good with, so i'll need directions.
