I don't hate this. It's weird and could maybe use some more CSS to tighten things up, but as a guy who has used the original site regardless of any updates I don't mind this.

It is a massive step into the present, and was pretty badly needed. Hopefully it'll cause less complaints than in the second version of the site (with the infamous double scroll bars, etc!) and people will get used to it pretty quickly. Like the news item about it says, any comments or feedback, let us know.

Incidentally, if anyone has a bookmarked link to the old forum, I think taking the "2" after "phpBB" out should send you here...

Not bad... still wouldn't mind if the background flame-spine was skipped altogether, or lowered the opacity of it in order to soften it up a bit.

I was kinda considering using Adblock to block it.

One thought: I am not staying logged in for some reason. A tad frustrating, but not a deal breaker.

Yeah I gotta log in every time I visit which is frustrating, but it all looks pretty good.

Never understood the complaint about the double scrollbars. Open the forum in a new page. Poof! Problem solved.

The new forum colors aren't all that appealing, to be honest.

Somehow they've managed to make the forum still look like it's stuck in the nineties...

Except for the colors and the text box, it's pretty much exactly the same. At least on the user end.

And forum notifications come from andy@parthenonsoftware.com.

Wouldn't have a problem with the new design if and this is a big if it hadn't caused several broken links see I had saved individual album reviews all those links don't work now. What's worse is the new page titles don't say the name of the album and the artist. I liked being able to bookmark individual album reviews please fix this

I always used the old site as I liked the persistent side menu vs the disappearing top menu. The blue theme was easier on the eyes and the guitar graphic was simply better done. The current side graphics look like BBQ ribs or something. I keep expecting a pop-up ad for Bulls-Eye.

The guitar graphic? The one above, top left? Pretty sure that's exactly the same.

Also an issue here, but it might just be me, is: when I click the post or quote button, the page where I can type a message is black in the middle with the BBQ ribs and the copyright footer, and I have to scroll up a whole lot before I actually see the bit where I can type a message.

Oh yeah, and all the links to Chris' fantastic metal artwork are broken.

There is no "mark all forums read" button at the bottom right any longer.

The blue winged guitar that used to be on the left on the old old site. I just liked it, 'tis all.

I noticed that the link to the old site is still there, just doesn't work .. so maybe it is still there somewhere? I just assumed that with this update it was finally done away with.
