i can't form a solid opinion of an album until i really "know" it and that happens after like 10~ listens. makes it hard to review promo copies of stuff since it usually takes me like 2 months to listen to something that many times.

Hmm I dunno: I can like an album from the beginning and listen to it repeatedly for 10-20 times. But when I listen to it again a month later, I ask myself what was so great about it. And vice versa, I can hate an album at first and discover it's brilliance months later when I decide to give it another spin.

The trouble is with music, you can never be sure that something you love at first won't come to be extremely annoying and hateful a few weeks later, and vice-verca - the best you can do is to try and sum up the album so that people know more or less what it's all about and if it's worth the effort involved, and that's basically what I try and do, what any of us try to do.

Heh, indeed. That Silver Mt Zion review I did is way too fawning now.
