Wild Tales, for the third time -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Tales_(film) - do yourselves a favour and watch this absolutely fantastic film. to me, it's damn near perfect. love every minute of it. my cousins loved it too.
on the new star wars, some criticism. possible spoilers below:
technological inconsistency is nothing new but really annoyed me. so they've mastered light-speed travel but they still can't consistently produce food?
why is everyone in that shithole desert planet when they could be in that luxuriant green and seemingly empty planet?
why do lasers cripple some ships and barely even scratch others? hell they even sometimes cripple the same ship on one occasion only to barely scratch it on another.
Poe Dameron fucking abandoned Finn in the ship and suddenly they're all like bros and shit. also, Finn looks bewildered/befuddled for the whole movie. make a normal face already, asshole.
had it with the fucking cute robots. it's like this movie is aimed squarely at 12 year olds. oh wait.
why did Finn "turn" in that one battle? had he not been in many other definitely bloodier battles? no, it was his first one? so the First Order/Empire takes rookie soldiers on strategically important missions?
and why does the First Order/Empire come totally undermanned on these vital missions? AND DON'T THEY FUCKING GUARD THEIR PRISONERS?!
and Finn is a sanitation guy who knows how key First Order facilities are run and what they weaknesses are, and they can just walk in and kidnap the captain, and Han and Chewie plant like 5 bombs and blow that whole thing up, and the whole thing is a repeat of how they did in the first movie.
fuck star wars. i wouldn't be half as pissed if not for the hype.
gotta hand it to Disney, though. between their own material, Pixar, Marvel, and now Lucasfilm (a bargain at $4bn), they will dominate the film industry.
