I'm fascinated by this stuff.

I live it day by day, so yeah, I follow it. The price of weed been getting considerably higher in the last 5 years, that kills my wallet. I was born in a small city called Apatzingán, in the state of Michoacán, home of the drug cartel that dominates central México. The cartel has taken the ridiculous name of Caballeros Templarios (Knights Templar) recently Formerly known as La Familia Michoacana. Three years ago I had the chance to see 10 heads (decapitated) in the principal monument of the city. It was a warning to other cartel (Los Zetas) that were trying in that time to get into Michoacán.

It's a quite interesting topic and most mexicans follows the narconews everyday.

Some friends from my childhood are into the game so I feel relatively safe

Anyway, this war between the Government and the cartels is only a masquerade, and excuse to keep buying weapons and equipment from the USA. Only they win, we lose. Things were good before this useless "war".

This are my goodfellas patrolling the streets of Apatzingán. Around 40 trucks (some with machine guns). When this was taken the city was under siege by the military army. I remember that year, two or three days before christmas, violent encounters took place. The choppers opened fire trying to kill some thugs that were on their trucks repelling the attack with .50 Barett's and bazookas. It was around 11 am, total madness. Innocent people got injured, some died. The attack lasted almost a day. I've to admit that time I got a bit scared. Fortunately I had enough mezcal, beer, weed and food so I managed to pass the time until the shooting stopped.

Yeah, man. I was kind of curious how accurate the portrayals are, or is it just the usual fear-mongering? Z40, for example is portrayed as a pretty brutal man. Truth or legend?
We don't get a lot of info up here, aside from fairly big events like El Lazca's death and the bodies hanging from overpasses, and so on.

Also, which is the biggest cartel? Sinaloa or Gulf (Zetas are part of the Gulf cartel, or did they split, I can't remember)

Was at a party last night and it kept coming up with people just discussing having been to Mexico in the past or planning travel in the coming future and it's crazy how open the violence is.

I'm sure I've never seen anything near what you have seen Alex but I have seen some awful acts of violence that I won't talk about. I got involved with some bad folks about 6 years ago. I've since cut all ties with them. They are part of the reason I went to prison. I will say that the more your around that kind of stuff the more numb you become to it till its just the way shit is. It's scary how the craziest things can become normal.

What's the word on decriminalisation there, Alexander? Any possibility?

By decriminalisation you mean legalization of drugs? I think the possibility is 0%. Politicians and druglords are so colluded that they are now practically the same thing.

Also, according to some polls, 65% of the population is against legalization. What a pile of horseshit. We are not so fortunate as Uruguay, they have the best president ever in the history of mankind (maybe I'm exaggerating a bit but he's such a fine person).

1. The biggest cartel in finance is the Cartel of Sinaloa, led by El Chapo Guzmán. In terms of territory and soldiers, los Zetas.

2. ¿Are the Zetas as brutal as they are portrayed?
Yes. They are extremely ruthless and have no code of honor as other cartels. They dismember kids and women with ease. Remember the comment about the ten heads? Well, those were Zetas heads. La Familia Michoacana fought three years to banish the Zetas from Michoacán. Very brutal war.

3. I don't believe the Lazca (leader of los Zetas) is dead. Same thing happened with the leader of La Familia Michoacana, Nazario Moreno aka el mas loco (the craziest one). The goverment said they killed him but never showed the body...

4. Zetas were initially part of the Gulf Cartel. They were a group of elite soldiers from the mexican army that deserted searching for money. But they got so powerful in a few years that they split from the Gulf Cartel and formed their own.

5. Basically all the cartels are fighting against los Zetas. They have no allies.

I saw this awesome video online of a guy being executed by getting decapitated by a chainsaw.

There are various executions videos around. It's a form of intimidation to other cartels and the population in general.

we had (nowhere near as vicious) problems with rival drug gangs on several occasions in Australia, two seperate instances in Sydney plus one in Melbourne but it was no where near this oppen, now we have bikie wars and that shit is escalating scary fast, it's just attack and revenge, attack and revenge all the time, one guy was bashed to death a couple years back and earlier this year or late last year the kid of one of the high ranking bikies was shot, another one this year killed the son of a high level biker and put the biker himself in hospital, and these guys don't care about hiding what they do eighter which is scary

Yeah, I actually live about a km away from a Hell's Angels clubhouse. It's insane how open they are about themselves. They have this giant gate with an ENORMOUS hells angels logo or coat of arms, or whatever you call it, across the entire gate. You can see it from a mile off. It's like they're daring the coppers to come around. And they do as well...cops are around that place all the time.

I see the members riding around on their bikes a lot too. I'm always very careful not to look any of them in the eye.

I'm always amazed that they let bikie gangs around in Oz.


Personally I'd be sending in SWAT teams into club houses with shoot to kill orders but then I'm a firm believer in Stalin's mantra of "death solves all problems."

Humans are shit and deserve no sympathy and no compassion. The masses need to be controlled or they turn to chaos like they've done in Mexico, in the Arab world and in Africa.

My dad used to say: "people either need fear of God or fear of Government. Today they have neither."

And thus chaos ensues.

Where I live in Tassie, murder for murder's sake is on the rise. Robberies are on the rise as are random acts of violence. We've seen people beating each other up in broad daylight in the middle of town on several occassions.

Never used to be this bad. The thrill kills are like something out of a movie:

Chinese student tortured and murdered by two guys - only one gets murder.

Guy in a wheel chair is brutally murdered. Murderer claims its the best thing he has ever done.

The legal system is failing epically - one guy was murdered and robbed and the murderers got assault.


In another instance a woman got 25 years for killing her rich doctor husband, except there was no body, no weapon and it was all assumptions.

It's like some sort of wierdo Dickensian world. Kill or be suspected of killing the rich and your in gaol for 25 years and kill a normal person and it's a slap on the wrist.

The only time you get serious gaol time for theft is if you steal from the government through social security fraud.

And even vicious sex crimes seldom get any real gaol time - recently a guy convicted of multiple sexual assaults on his 2 year old step grandchild got a mere 2 years. Judge stated it was a tough punishment for a vicious crime.

for a sex offender that is actually a harsh sentence mate, consider this: sex offenders, particularly when children are involved, are despised by other inmates, that guy will be bashed viciously first day in which is almost a certainty, personally think it isn't long enough and that sex offenders shouldn't be protected from the other inmates though

yeah shit is fucked up in SA as well people robbing and bashing elderly people in their own homes it's just terrible

Apparently sex offenders are kept apart from the general population.

yeah I don't agree with that being done, I think they should be thrown to the wolves and torn asunder
