I know this was discussed in the book thread earlier this year, but I wanted to bring it back up now that Season 1 is wrapping up with this week's finale. What is your impression of the show? How have they handled it, and will you be watching it in the future? |

the first few episodes started off slowly, but it had to be to introduce the characters properly. it really got awesome after ep 5 or so. |

I didn't like that all the Starks are older in the tv series. Rickon is supposed to be 4 and is 6, Bran 8 and is 10, and Rob and the bastard doesn't look at all like 14 years old boys. More like 18-20. And Ned Stark is about 35 in the book, and he looks like 50 years old, same with his wife. But so far, the tv show is very close to the book. The chapter when Ned is beheaded is spine-chilling! The Targaryen girl is kind of meh, she's not a good actress. Oh!!! I almost forgot. I'm in the middle of the second book, Clash of Kings, and still there's no mention that Renly Baratheon is gay and in love with Loras Tyrell. That scene really pissed me off... it's obviously directed at a gay public, to attract more viewers. |

Love the show. There were a pair of episodes in the middle where I thought things were getting a bit slow but then the show came back with a vengeance and has been rocking ever since. It's gonna be a long wait for next season. And please don't spoil what's gonna happen, I haven't read the books :) |

Episode 6 for me. So far I like it even if it's a slow grower... I feel a HUUUGE development in the next episode. How does this compare to the book? |

It was obviously a demographic move, and its fine. I am seriously counting the minutes till the season finale this Sunday. Its been fun reading everyones reactions with Ned, and they have no idea that it was just a warmup for whats coming. Also, I think Dany has done the best job of all the characters. Hers was the hardest role to pull off, and she is finally getting to a point where she can start playing a power figure instead of a fish out of water. |

Man they're killing all my favorite characters; King Robert, Ned Stark, Khal Drogo.. But my hatred for that inbred brat king will keep me watching. Gonna be a long wait for next season. |

Watched another episode last night. Gillen and Dinklage would be reason enough to watch this themselves, great actors. |

I just watched the season finale. Well, overall the season was awesome. I liked everything. I especially like how they did not go too far from the book. It was my main worry. Now I can't wait to see what they'll do with A Clash of Kings. The Annoying Frenchman wrote: How does this compare to the book?
As always, the book's better (more details, more little stories), but they did a great job. |

Yes. Father Lannister was very well cast too. Hadn't read the books before, but will certainly do so now. The whole 7th episode won me over, I hadn't seen an episode of TV that awesome since the Wire. |

I've been glued to my TV every episode even though I already know what's going to happen. The gay thing was kind of annoying though. |

I thought it was getting better with every episode. Now, I'm really looking forward to Season 2. Ho, I have a question to those who read the book. Can I start directly at the 2nd book or will I be missing some elements to fully comprehend it? |

It's been a while since I read it, but I'd say go for the second book. I don't think they left something important out. What do you say guys ? (don't spoil) |

Too long since I read it, I'm afraid. I'd say read the first book anyway, you're bound to find something the show missed and it's all good stuff. |
