Any bettors/gamblers, around here ? I used to be one, I even had some big wins. Awful losses too, which made me quit. Anyway I wondered, as some of you seem interested in sports... I won 2000 euros in 2006, I bet on Italy two months before the World Cup (soccer). 200 euros, 11 to 1. The irony : Italy actually beat France in the final. I was the only happy man in the whole fucking country. |

I've played a few games of poker in my time, no sports or horse betting. Quit after nearly giving myself a heart attack when I thought I'd lost a vast amount, but ended up breaking even. Don't need the stress! |

I'm unbelievably good at Blackjack. I don't gamble for real money though. I know the odds and they aren't in my favor. Sports betting is there to split the betters so half of them always come back. |

I love playing Mahjong. Unfortunately I can't find anyone to play with, and I'm scared shitless of getting cleaned out by some old chinese genius if I go searching outside of uni. |

As I already told you in another thread, you would make a fantastic Frenchman. That's a compliment. |

I play sports bets. I'm usually good at NBA bets but not at football. In the long run I have probably lost more than I won, by a small margin. Never played for anything higher than 30$ though. I do it because I enjoy the small thrill. I also love poker but I have stopped myself from playing for real money because I tend to get obsessed with it. It could become a serious addiction. I sometimes play with play money. |

Bets are more fun when they're not for money. |

I used to bet very small sums for years. 2, 5, 10 euros, top. Until one day... In the long run (7 years), I know I have won 4000+ euros. I don't know exactly how much I have lost, but it's at (the very) least 4000 as well. It's not the same. You don't play the way you play with real money. It's just not fun. I completely stopped playing poker because of that. |

I just can't see how, sadly. Sex bets are fun ! But they're rarer than unicorns. |

Well, I mean, with money things can get pretty heated and personal. Losing a shit ton of money to a bad bet just doesn't sound like a good time to me. If the consequence of losing a bet isn't monetary, it just seems like it'd be a lot less confrontational. |

I like to bet a small amount on UFC fight cards when watching with friends, it's a good trash talk starter ;) Sometimes I bet on hockey if I think the odds are in my favor. But I'm about as small time as you get when it comes to betting. |

To Legacy : Alright, you're talking about betting with someone else. I was mostly talking about betting/playing online. But anyhow you're right, as Goat said, the stress just isn't worth it. And the money lost even less is. |

Aah, yeah, I would never bet online. It just doesn't seem worth it. But I can see how something like this could be fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jlkMR0_Lsg |

I enjoy playing small 1/2 Texas Holdem tables. Low stress, decent money, just walk in with 200 dollars and slow play through the night, possibly walk out with a couple thousand if things go well. If not, your out 200 bucks, not a huge deal (still sucks). |

It's super exciting. Even for a small amount. |

I say that about Blackjack because I win at least 60% of the time, which is unbelievable statistically. Whether it's a cheap handheld video game, in Las Venturas, with Grandma, or at casio night at an old condo. I can't lose at Blackjack...which is why I won't play at a Casino because I would eventually lose, iuf that makes sense. Blackjack is the only game where a smart player going against the dealer's predetermined moves has a better than 50% chance of winning. |

Absolutely none whatsoever. What do you have to lose trying ? Except a few bucks ? |

It makes perfect sense if you understand gambling. Most people are overconfident and don't walk away when they are ahead. The house is going to get their money back sooner or later. |
