We all have various historical figures of varying importance we've read about or wanted to meet. Who are some of the people of the past you've read about that have captivated you and you wish to meet? In my case I've always wanted to meet Friedrich Nietzsche, Nero, and Heraclitus. George Washington would be interesting too, the real man and not the image on the dollar bill. Dostoevsky and Bakunin and John Locke, all of those intellects if they wouldnt mind meeting me. Who are some of the people you have to share? |

Aleister Crowley Napoleon Hitler Stalin Neitzsche Manson Ernest Hemingway Dostoyevsky Dillinger H.P. Lovecraft Kafka Thomas Jefferson Voltaire Jesse James Theodore Rooseveldt Ghengis Khan Mark Twain... damn I can think of a shitload. Good idea for a thread. I'd also like Charles Bronson around to keep an eye on Manson... |

It would be fun / interesting to share a flask of whisky with Poe. Or maybe Baudelaire, if Poe was unavailable. |

Or maybe Baudelaire, if Poe was unavailable. Poe liked Cognac. |

I'll drink Cognac, if the conversation is interesting enough, but nobody refuses a taste of good Scotch. |

Buy Bukowski a bottle of booze and hope he doesn't piss on you. Other than that... I'd like to meet Mannerheim, Orwell, Cavour, D'annunzio, Dylan Thomas... Shit, there are tons. |

Many, many indeed. Jesus is the one who hasn't been mentioned yet. |

I'd like to sit down with Jesus and try to lead him to the right way. Also gather Marx and Bakunin in a room and tell Marx to stop his bullshit immediately and listen to Bakunin. Also Nietzsche and Ghandi. |

Archimedes. Always wondered how it would have felt running naked on the streets shouting, "Eureka, eureka !". |

We were told about it in school and a rough look through wikipedia says about it too. Not saying what's in wikipedia is the ultimate truth. In that case, I would like to meet him to know if it's a myth. ![]() |

That, of course, is what's great about history. Different interpretations. I was told about it in school as well, my "IIRC" comes from either a history book or a lecture by my current History teacher (who, having a PhD, I'm more inclined to trust than my middle school teacher). |

Socrates, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Beethoven, David Foster Wallace (not really historical but he is dead) any other dudes that seem abnormally passionate about something I like. |

Right, Beethoven. Fuck yeah. And going drinking with Mozart would probably also have been cool. |
